¡¾ÌâÄ¿¡¿ The planet Mars is the ¡¾1¡¿(close) and most similar planet to Earth. It is very interesting to scientists. For example, Mars has seasons with different weather, but other planets have ¡¾2¡¿ same temperatures all year round. Was there l¡¾3¡¿ on Mars?

T¡¾4¡¿ find out, scientists need to know if Mars ever had water. In 2004, two robot explorers(̽²âÆ÷), or ¡®rovers¡¯£¬ called Spirit and Opportunity were sent to look for¡¾5¡¿(sign) of water. These rovers can drive over rocks ¡¾6¡¿ all kinds of rough ground. They can also use cameras and send photos back to Earth. ¡¾7¡¿(one), the two rovers found chemicals and patterns(ͼÎÆ) in the rocks that were probably ¡¾8¡¿(make) by water. Then, they moved to another area and found other rocks w¡¾9¡¿ may have been created by water. Now scientists think there was probably water on the planet long ago. Today they are still not sure if there was life on Mars. They ¡¾10¡¿(real) need more information to decide. The discoveries of the two rovers answered some old questions, but they also brought up many new ones.

¡¾ÌâÄ¿¡¿ Miss Lucas lived in South Carolina and liked trying new things. Her father ¡¾1¡¿(send) her some seeds of the indigo plants (µåÀ¶Ö²Îï). She planted some of them i¡¾2¡¿ February, but the indigo plants all died because of the cold weather. She did not give up. She planted ¡¾3¡¿ (many) seeds in April. Unluckily, worms ate the indigo ¡¾4¡¿(plant). Miss Lucas tried again. This time the plants grew very ¡¾5¡¿(good). Her father introduced a man to ¡¾6¡¿(she) after knowing it. The man knew how to get ¡¾7¡¿ indigo out of the plants. But he did not want the people in Carolina ¡¾8¡¿ know how to make it. He was ¡¾9¡¿(worry) that his own people would not get so much money from their indigo. However, Lucas watched him closely, and she finally found out h¡¾10¡¿ the indigo could be made. People in South Carolina became rich because of the indigo plants.
