The Changes in My Hometown
In the past, my hometown was very small.

¡¾´ð°¸¡¿The Changes in My Hometown
In the past, my hometown was very small. People lived a poor life. The houses were old and small. Pollution was very serious, there was rubbish everywhere. The traffic was not convenient, so few visitors came here. Now great changes have taken place in my hometown. The environment has become more beautiful. The mountains have turned greener, the rivers clearer and the sky bluer. There are trees, flowers and grass everywhere. People live a better life. Their houses are large and bright. Many people have their own cars. Every year, thousands of people from all over the world come to visit our city.
The people's living conditions have improved a lot. I'm sure it will get richer and more beautiful in future. I love my hometown.

¡¾ÌâÄ¿¡¿Thanksgiving Day was near. The first grade teacher gave her class some fun homework-- to draw a picture of something for which they were thankful.

Most of the class drew a turkey or other traditional things. But Douglas drew a different kind of picture. He drew a hand. Just an empty hand.

Douglas was a different boy. He was poor and unhappy. As other children played, Douglas was likely to stand close by the teacher¡¯s side.

His classmates were surprised at his picture. One child guessed it was the hand of a farmer, because farmers raise turkeys. Others guessed it was the hand of God, for God feeds us.

The teacher asked him whose hand it was. The little boy said in a low voice, ¡°It¡¯s yours.¡±

She remembered the times she had taken his hand and walked with him here and there. She often said, ¡°Take my hand, Douglas, we¡¯ll go outside.¡± Or, ¡°Let me show you how to hold your pencil.¡± Or, ¡°Let¡¯s do this together.¡± Douglas was most thankful for his teacher¡¯s hand.
