Changes in the ways people kill time at night show the social progress (进步) of China ove the past 60 years.

The 1950s and 1960s： New arts.

At weekends shows were held for large crowds. Dance parties ? films and concert enlivened (使有生气) local parks and squares. Of course ? the most popular were dramas ? opera and films on the themes.

The 1970s： Outdoor film shows.

Outdoor films appeared in the early 1950s. They were free.
