    Antarctic(南极)，the coldest place on the earth，   is too cold for most living things. However, things are different for penguins(企鶴).Several types of penguins make their home in Antarctic.

    They walk with short steps, however, they don't have " Happy Feet”. Some of Antarctic's penguins are endangered, or at the risk of dying out. The animals search for food near the Antarctic's coasts. TTiey use the ice on the sea as a place to rest while they search. In recent years,global warming,the slow rise of the earth's temperature, has been causing the ice to melt(融化).

    People add to global warming when they drive cars or use electricity. That burns fuels, such as coal,oil and natural gas. The burning of fuels gives off gas that warms the earth. The harmful gas stays in the air above Antarctic. Scientists find that the west side of Antarctic is especially affected by global warming.

    "Global warming is reducing the amount of food for penguins so that they can't find enough food to eat”，said Shaye Wolf.

    Scientists are hopeful that conditions in Antarctic can be improved. They say people can reduce global warming by using cars and electricity less often. Even kids can help. Wolf suggests， " Talk to your friends and family about global warming，how it is harming penguins，and how important it is to stop warming today."
