   One day Rick went to visit his friend Martin. Martin loved birds,especially parrots. He had two parrots as pets. The birds’ cage was always open during the day so the birds could fly around the house.

   Rick didn't like pet birds. He thought letting them fly in the house was strange. When Rick was in the room,the parrots didn't go near him at first. After a while one of them flew down and sat on Rick's shoulder. Rick was afraid and stood quietly. He hoped the bird would go away. It didn't. Slowly Rick relaxed. He started feeling more comfortable. Then he put his finger near the parrot,and the bird jumped onto it and looked at Rick. Rick smiled.

   “Hey,Rick!” Martin said. “You seem to have a new friend."
