Teenage life — better now,or in the past? Does this situation sound familiar (熟悉)?

You are complaining (抱怨)to your parents about something. Maybe your computer isn't powerful enough to play the latest games.Or your friends’ bikes are better than yours. Then you hear...

When I was your age, there weren’t any computers or video games. And I didn’t get a bike until I was sixteen. And it was second-hand.1

So, is it really true that life is better for teenagers now? It is certainly true that many teenagers have got more things nowadays. 2So parents have got more money to spend on each child. And many things are cheaper than they were when our parents were children.

3Forty years ago, no one could imagine a world with tiny computers and amazing smartphones. And now these things are necessary — we can’t imagine living without them!

However, technology often means we spend more time at home. And often it is just us, with our computer or television. Teenagers don’t do enough exercise. 4And, although young people still get on well with their friends, some people think teenagers today don’t have

so many social activities as they did in the past.

What do you think? How is teenage life better these days?

A.And it was too big for me.

B.A typical family is smaller now.

C.I like my old days.

D.So they aren’t as healthy as they were in the past.

E.Technology is probably the greatest change in our life

1A

2B

3E

4D

1根据And it was second-hand.,可知it指的是上文的bike。 And it was too big for me.

So parents have got more money to spend on each child. A typical family is smaller now.

However, technology often means we spend more time at home. Technology is probably the greatest change in our life符合文意,故选E。

4根据Teenagers don’t do enough exercise. So they aren’t as healthy as they were in the past.

Mr. Guo is a teacher from Xi’an. He asked his students to hand in their homework through a QR code(二维码). “We spent an hour or two in class learning how to generate(使产生) the codes, and in the end everything gets easier.” Said Guo, “When students finish the homework, they keep it on WeChat. Then, each student makes his own QR code and gives it to me. So I can check their work anywhere using my computer or telephone.”

The QR codes can be sent to Mr. Guo by email, QQ and WeChat. When Guo scans(扫描) his students’ QR codes, their homework appears on his phone. He finds that their homework becomes more creative, with many pictures, music and even videos.

Guo’s students like the new way and think it is interesting. “We are living in the information age. Many students like to work with computers, which makes learning more fun.” Said Tingting, a student of Guo’s. “The paper is not easy to keep, but the code is easy to keep and share.” Guo said, “It is worth trying to use new technology in education. Education itself is a kind of creation. I don’t want my students to fall behind the times.”

However, some parents are worried. They are afraid that their children will spend too much time on computers and less time communicating with teachers. But in fact, it’s unnecessary. Students still need to look up information in books and write it down when they do their homework. They only use the codes when they hand in their work, which doesn’t take them too much time. Also for teachers, it allows them to check the students’ work at any time. And it’s also an easy way to share homework with other students.

This is a tale(故事) of two friends— one is blind, the other has no arms. On their own, the two are "disabled".But together, they are a powerful team that has changed part of their village in north china's Hebei province into a rich, green forest. Meet 53-year-old Jia Haixia and Jia Wenqi!

(3) Their story began in 2000, when Haixia, who was already blind in his right eye, lost

his left one after an illness. Wenqi lost his arms in an accident when he was just three. Neither could find a job, so the two decided to team up.They rented some poor land and began to plant trees. In return, the local officials paid them a small fee. Haixia and Wenqi never imagined that they would end up creating an environmental paradise. Their forest now has over 10, 000 trees, hundreds of birds and many other wild animals. In addition, it saves the village from flooding river during the rainy season. When the two friends work together, they focus on their strengths not their disabilities. Their day begins at 7: 00 a. m. when the sightless Haixia carries Wenqi across the river to get to their worksite. (4)Since they cannot afford to buy young trees to plant,

the two use branches from existing trees. Haxia climbs to the tree-top and selects the perfect branch with wenqi's direction. He then digs a hole and carefully plants it. Finally Wenqi waters the area.

Though hard-working, the men don't make much money. But as Wengi said, "We stand on our own feet so the fruits of our work taste sweeter. Neither Haixia nor Wengi cares about money. Together, they already have everything they need-a perfect pair of eyes, two strong hands, and the best friendship in the world!
