    Tony is a 24-year-old man from the United Kingdom. He often wears the same cloths for many days because he doesn't know how to use a washing machine.

    This is not a joke. Tony is not the only young person who doesn’t have basic life skills. According to a recent study by You Gov, a UK market research company, today’s young people in the UK are less capable than older generations when it comes to basic life skills.

    For example, about 35%don’t know how to sew on a button and 11% don’t understand how to change a light bulb or iron(熨) clothes.

    Technology may be the main reason for this. Born and raised in an age of rapid technology process, young people know more about using phones and computers. For example, with GPS always at hand, young people have no need to learn how to read physical map. However, this does not mean that younger generations are unable to complete basic everyday tasks. The Mirror《镜报》 noted that as their lives have changed, the life skills that they are good at have changed as well.

    The study results show that although only 45% know how to pay their water and electricity bills after leaving home, 71% could help set up a Wi-Fi network in a new house.
