    The world is not only hungry,but also thirsty.This may s 1  strange to you,since nearly 70% of the earth's surface is covered w 2  water. But about 97% of that is sea water,or salt water. Humans can only drink and u 3   the other 3%一the fresh water from rivers,lakes,the underground and o 4  sources. And we cannot even use all of that. Even worse,some of it has been polluted.

    However as things stand today? this fresh water is still e 5   for us. But our need for water is b 6   larger and larger —almost day by day. We should take s 7   to do with this problem now and in this w 8   we can get away from a serious water shortage (^fc^) later on.

    We all have to learn how to s 9   wasting our valuable water. One of the first steps is to develop ways of reusing it. Today in most large cities,water is used only once and then sent into a sewer system (排污系统). From there it r 10   to the sea or runs into underground places.
