It's time for school! But on May 14th, 170 students at Duncanville High School in Texas, US, were told to go back home.

Why? Because they were wearing the wrong clothes to school.

Schools in the US don¡¯t always ask students to wear uniforms. But they have dress codes (×Å×°ÒªÇó). For example, Duncanville High School tells students to wear belts, shirts without logos £¨±êʶ£©.

Schools¡¯ most-hated (×îÌÖÑáµÄ) clothes are different.

In 2011, the saggy ( ËÉ¿å µÄ ) trousers law was passed in Florida. It stops students from wearing trousers that show body parts.

Now, "the favorite new target ( Ä¿ ±ê ) of the school dress code" is leggings( ½ô Éí ¿ã ), reported the Associated Press. Some schools don't allow leggings. Other schools ask students to wear a shirt or a skirt over leggings.

Some students complain (±§Ô¹) that schools are going too far(×öµÃÌ«¹ý·Ö) .

But schools say dress codes help protect students¡¯ safety and make sure they grow up with good taste (ÓÐÁ¼ºÃµÄ¼øÉÍÁ¦).

"We want to teach them that they must meet the expectations (ÆÚÍû) not only here in school, but also outside school," said Andre Smith.

Every country has its favorite food. Italians enjoy eating pizza. Indians like to eat hot food. Japanese like to eat fish. They often don¡¯t cook it.

In England, one of the most popular kinds of food is fish and chips. People usually eat it in a fish and chip shop. They put it in paper bags(Ö½´ü), and take it home, or to their workplace. Sometimes they eat it in the park or on the road.

But the world¡¯s favorite food isn¡¯t English, Italian, Indian or Japanese food. American fast food is the favorite in the world. In many big cities in the world, you can find people eating chips and hamburgers.

Chinese food is also very popular in the world. In many cities you can find Chinese restaurants. People enjoy Chinese food because it has different tastes and it¡¯s very delicious.

Imagine a world where air pollution is no longer a problem. Clean air is all around us. People don¡¯t have to worry about polluting the air every time they take the bus.

A city in California has got some new buses. They cost $490,000 each. The new buses are different from the old ones. These new buses are better for the environment. They are called hybrid buses. They run on diesel (²ñÓ͵Ä) and electric power. This will help keep the air cleaner.

The man drove the new bus on Wednesday and noticed a difference right away. ¡°I get to have clean air for a change¡±, said driver Melvin Day. ¡°I¡¯m smelling diesel all day long when I drive the old ones.¡±

The company that builds the buses had many good things to say about them. For example, they said they use a lot less fuel (ȼÁÏ). They also said that they are 90% cleaner for the environment. The buses are very quiet, too.

The buses have a diesel engine in the back and batteries (µç³Ø) on top. When the engine starts up, it is powered by electricity. Then the diesel power takes over.

Over time the city would like to use the new hybrid buses instead of all 50 of their buses. They hope to do this over the next three years. The city will give money to help buy the new kind of buses.

One other bit of good news: the price of the bus ticket will not rise because of the new buses.

1.Why are the new buses better for the environment?

A. Because they¡¯re cheaper than the old ones.

B. Because they¡¯re very quiet.

C. Because they run on diesel and electric power.

D. Because they are new.
