There is not enough oil in the world now. As time goes by, it becomes less and less. So what are we going to do when oil runs out? Maybe we need the horses again.
In the Second World War, some people didn’t use gas made from petroleum(石油) in their cars. They made gas from wood and plants instead. The car didn’t go fast, but this was better than nothing. However, in the future, we can’t cut down all our trees to make gas.
Besides different types of gas, we can also use electricity to run our cars, but first we must make electricity! Some countries have coal and make electricity with that, but we might not always have coal, either. Other countries have big, strong rivers, and they can use the power of water to turn turbines(涡轮机) and make electricity easily and cheaply.
We are also able to get power from the ocean tides(海潮). When the tide comes in , the water turns the turbines and when it goes out, it turns them again.
1.Is there enough oil in the world now?
2.When might people have to go back to use horses?
3.What did some people use to make gas in the Second World War?
4.What are you able to get from the ocean tides?

Is it difficult for you to get up in the morning? Are you often late for work or school? Yes? Then a scientist called Mike has a special bed for you. His Bed will get you up in the morning! Here is how it works!
The bed is connected to an alarm clock. First, the alarm clock rings. You have a few minutes to wake up. Next, a tape recorder in the bed plays soft music and then your girlfriend’s beautiful voice comes, “Wake up, darling, please.” A few minutes later, loud music comes from the tape recorder. At the same time, you may hear the voice of your boss. Your boss shouts angrily, “ Wake up at once, or you’ll be late!” If you don’t get up after that, you’ll be sorry! A plastic “foot” is in the bed. It kicks you in the head. Then the bed waits for a few more minutes. What! You’re still in bed! Slowly the top of the bed rises higher and the foot of the bed goes lower. Finally, you fall off the bed and onto the floor. You are out of the bed and awake!
