       The dogsled (狗拉雪橇) race was about to begin. Dogs of Julie's team were lined up at the starting gate. Julie stood behind them. The air was very cold. Other teams were lined up,too,and the dogs were excited. At exactly ten o’clock,she and the other racers shouted, " Mush!" The dogs knew well what it meant. They started running and the race began!

        Julie had trained them for months for this race,and she hoped she and her dogs would win. Now,they ran over snowy hills and down into frozen valleys. They stopped only to rest and eat. They wanted to stay ahead of the other teams. The racers had to go a thousand miles across Alaska. Alaska is one of the coldest places on Earth. The dogs 9 thick fur helped keep them warm in the cold wind and weather. In many places along their way,the snow was deep. Pieces of ice were as sharp as a knife. The ice could cut the dogs 9 feet. To keep that from happening,Julie had put special booties on their feet. Once,one of the sled's runners slid into a hole and broke. Julie could have given up then,but she didn't. She fixed it and they kept going.

        When they finally reached the finish line,they found out that they had come in first place!It was a great day for Julie and her dogs.

        Earlier this year,leading scientists from universities including Oxford,Cambridge and Harvard,warned that a lack of sleep could cause serious problems,such as cancer,heart disease and obesity.

         Kyle suggested turning off smartphones and desktop computers a few hours before going to bed. This helps to reduce people's exposure (暴露) to artificial (人工的) light.

         Wearing a light blue wetsuit (潜水衣) that matches the colour of the sea will make you less likely to be attacked by a shark,according to researchers. Sharks eat meat like dolphins,seals and whales,but they are unable to distinguish between colours.
