Does your school have any problems with discipline(纪律)? What happens when students step out of line?
Here are some examples of bad behaviour:
? Playing truant(逃学) (missing school without permission from parents).
? Stealing, smoking, hitting, swearing, running, kissing.
? Cheating on exams.
? Calling a teacher or another pupil a bad name.
? Not doing homework.
? Not listening or not paying attention in lessons.
? Wearing unsuitable clothes.
Here are some of the ways that UK school children can be punished:
? Exclusion（开除）: a pupil is asked to leave the school and not come back. The pupil has to find a new school or a different method of education.
? Suspension（停课）: a pupil cannot enter the building or attend lessons until the school has a meeting about their situation. Suspension can last from one to 45 days. The pupil is usually given work to do at home with a special teacher.
? Detention（拘留）: a pupil is asked to stay after school and work for 30-60 minutes before they can leave.
? Lines: a pupil has to write a sentence many times (e.g. 100 or more) on a sheet of paper, e.g. “I must not shout in class.”
Freya MacDonald, a 15-year-old pupil from Scotland, _________when she refused to accept her school’s punishment. Her family says that she was given 11 detentions for trivial things such as having fizzy drinks in class and coming into school through a fire door.
Freya says that repeated detentions ruined her right to an education under Scottish law and made it difficult for her to learn. So she refused to return until the school respected her civil rights. Brillat-Savarin that goes: “Tell me what kind of food you eat, and I will tell you what kind of man you are.” It can be easy to not really think about what you eat. The first article will look at the way fast food is leading to obesity (肥胖). The famous cook, Jamie Oliver, has made it his purpose to introduce ideas about healthy eating. In a speech, Jamie Oliver told the world that during the 18 minutes that he gave his speech, four Americans would die because of the food that they ate! Obesity is also a growing problem in China. As China Daily reported in February, the number of obese people under the age of 18 in China has reached 120 million.
Jamie has worked for 10 years to try and fight this problem. Learning about food is important not just because of health problems but also because many people still don’t have enough food today. And we know as the improvement of science sometimes we have to face genetically modified (转基因) food. Don’t worry – we’ll make you know more about all these topics in our special article!
We’ll also tell you something interesting about food. For example, do you know what the largest food on the menu is all over the world? It’s the roasted camel and it has been served for several hundred years, often stuffed (填满) with chicken, lamb, egg, fish and rice!
Hopefully by the time you finish reading this edition(版本), you’ll pay more attention to the food that you eat. As Oliver says, food is something that can help us enjoy our life. It is important that we love it!

Ever since I was a little child, my parents have told me to be honest because it is the right thing to do. As I got older, I realized something very important. If just once you are deceitful and tell a lie, it will greatly change people’s opinions about you and their way of acting toward you.
