Like many girls,Ma Xiaoyi likes to keep a diary. But the Junior 3 student also likes to write something more unusual： poems.
She reads and writes poems every day at school.Many are romantic (浪漫的) .And some have even been published (出版) .
Ma is one of many “student poets (诗人) ” in her school. From this term on,her school is’having a special poetry class. 4<We are not training future poets ,” said Zhang Yingjing,the school's headmaster. t4We just hope the class makes students more creative”.
The class has 56 poem-loving students in it. They get half a day's teaching every week from Zhu Tiewu,a poet from the Shanghai City Poets Group.

But are students interested in poems today? Yes. According to a study of 90 students at the school,about half of them read poems and about a third want to be poets.
l am learning about poems not because I want to be a poet,but because poems teach me a lot about life”，said Ma. Yang Shuyan,another student,thinks poem lessons are more interesting than Chinese lessons. “Poets are full of imagination (想象 力) . In poem lessons,we have to use heads. Learning about poems helps me write better”’ Yang said.
