Here are some suggestions given by the English children posted on the website about how to help Africa. Which one do you think is the best?

I think health is the   most important thing. We need to make sure that the money we

give is spent wisely. The money should be spent first on clean water   supplies and better

health care.

—Robin, aged 16, Birmingham

I think the most   important thing is to improve the education of the African countries.

There is an old saying, "If you give a man a fish, you'll feed   him for a day. If you teach

him how to fish, you'll feed him for a lifetime. " We need to   help people to help

themselves, not just throw money at the problem when it appears(出现).

―Rebecca , aged 15 , Liverpool

People seem to give a lot   more money to charity(慈善机构)when there is a sudden,

huge disaster(灾难)like the earthquake. It's good for people to   do so. But I also think

that we should give a small part of our salary(工资)to charity as well. If everyone did

that, it would make a big difference.

―Mary, aged 14, Stratford-on-Avon

Giving money to charity   can help, but it's not the final answer. I think what these

countries need is a good government.

―Bethany, aged 16, Newcastle

The best thing we can do   is to send experts(专家)like engineers, doctors and

teachers to help the people to help themselves.

―Robert, aged 16, Cardiff

Many teachers tell students ahead of time what the form of an exam will be. This can help you tailor (调整) how you study. For example,if you know you're going to have multiplechoice questions on World War II,you'll have to focus on studying facts and details. But if the exam contains essay questions, you'll want to think about which topics are most likely to be covered. Then come up with several possible essaytopics and use your notes, books and other reference sources to solve how you might answer questions on those topics.

As you study, review your notes and any special information from your textbook. Read things over several times if you need to,and write down any phrases or thoughts that will help you remember main ideas.

When trying to memorize dates, names or other information, keep in mind that it usually takes a number of tries to remember something correctly. That's one reason why it's a good idea to start studying in advance (提前) of a test.

In the case of math or science problems,do some practice to work out more problems. Pay special attention to anything the teacher seemed to stress (强调) in class.

Some people find there are many ways to help students to study. Work with a study partner and take turns to teach aloud. Another study way is making flashcards that summarize some of the important facts. Reading the textbook is a good way to prepare for a test. You can then use these to review for a test.

(   ) 4. There are        ways to study for a test in the last paragraph.

   A. two   B. three

   C. four   D. five

(   ) 5. What is the main idea of the passage?

There's only one place, and that's Hollywood,in California. The scenes you see from the tourist train are film sets (布景) in the Universal Studios, one of the oldest and largest movie companies (公司) in the USA.

A visit to Universal Studios brings back memories of great days of Hollywood, the films and the stars. But they are only memories. Hollywood isn't quite the same as it used to be. Though it is soap operas that are keeping the filmmakers of Hollywood in business, big films are still being made in America. But more and more of them are made outside Hollywood. New York is the most important new center, but there are many others as well. Moviemakers have realized that they don't need Hollywood any more. Modern cameras and real houses instead of expensively made copies in a studio. Other states, especially Florida and Texas, are working hard to take the film business away from California.
