A. How B.When C. Before D. Why

【答案】B

【解析】

试题分析:句意:当晚餐结束时,每个人帮助洗餐具。How如何,表示方式,程度;When当……时候,表示时间;Before在……之前,表示时间;Why为什么,表示原因。根据everyone helped wash the dishes可知吃完饭的时候才洗餐具,故此处用连词when, 故选B。

【题目】Answer the questions.

Dear Grandma and Grandpa,

As you may have heard from my parents, I’m in China right now on a cultural exchange program. I’m enjoying my time here very much. I have made new friends here, many of whom are locals. Through my interaction(相互交流)with them, I’ve noticed some interesting cultural differences. One of the most obvious cultural differences is the size of food portions in restaurants. Back home in America, the food portions are usually larger than those I’ve seen in China. We’re even used to seeing super-sized dishes in some restaurants.

However, in Asia, food portions are generally not extremely large. I’m must encouraged to eat until I’m full and enjoy different kinds of food. Eating out in Asia is often a big social affair(社交活动). People here eat out a lot. There are all kinds of restaurants. And there are food stands and food carts-even on the sidewalk(人行道).

Another interesting aspect of eating out is the way food is served. Back home in America, each diner orders their own meal. When people eat out in Asia, they usually order food to share. Nearly every time I eat out with friends in China, each of us has our own bowl of rice or noodles, and we share the rest of the dishes. This is an excellent way to try new foods! One thing that makes me confused is the way people pay for food at a restaurant.

In the U.S. we often ask for separate(分开的)checks, so we each pay for our own meal. But here, if diners decide to pay separately, they typically don’t request separate checks. Instead, they give money to one person who pays the bill. People also don’t tip the server. Instead, there is often a service charge added to the bill.

I hope you are doing well. I’ll write you again!

Love, Margare

【题目】Complete the following passage with the words in the box. Each can be used only once(将下列单词填入空格。每空格限填一词, 每词只能填一次)

A. extra B. shelf C. platform D. depends E. similar

Take a walk through a supermarket. You will find many brands(品牌)of chocolate and a dozen kinds of yoghurt. Which ones should you buy?

Well, the answer 1. You may have your favorites. If there is a brand you like more than other brands, you might be willing to pay 2 money for it. But when you don't like one brand over another, the right move is to shop for the best price. It means putting one item next to a(n) 3 item to see which gives you more for your money. This isn't always easy because of the way things are packaged. To find the best deal, check the unit price. Stores usually show the unit price on the 4. If they don't, you can calculate it yourself.

A. compare B. serious C. offer D. responsible E. choice

But unit price isn't the only thing to consider. Ask yourself how much you exactly need. Food waste is a 5 problem. According to a research, people throw away up to 40% of the food they buy. So, ask yourself: Do I actually need 8 pieces of bread? If not, the smaller bag is the better 6.

Also, brand names come at a cost. Sometimes, what you're paying for isn't just the product in the package. It's the brand name on the package. That's why many stores 7 their own products which are usually much cheaper. Last year, some supermarkets did a test. They invited people to try some brand-name cakes and 8 them with those made by the supermarkets. To their surprise, most people thought there was not any difference between them .
