Answer the questions(根据短文内容回答下列问题)

Kate had to make a decision(决定) because there were different parties on the same day. One was the birthday party of her friend. The other was a party to celebrate her grandparents’ 50thwedding anniversary(结婚纪念). Her grandmother told her, “I will not be unhappy if you go to your friend’s party. You will probably have more fun there.”

But Kate decided that her family was more important. She could talk to her friends every day, but she did not see her relatives very often. In fact, she had never met some of them. For example, she had only seen photos of her mother’s brother Jack and his wife Alice. She even had not seen pictures of their children, her cousins Sam and Sally.

Kate had a wonderful time at the party. She and Sally got on well together. Sally was fifteen, two years older than Kate, but they had a lot in common(共同). Sally told Kate that one of their ancestors(祖先), their great-great-uncle, was a swimming champion(冠军)who had won an Olympic medal(奖牌). At the end of the party they gave e-mail addresses to each other, so they could still chat(聊天)afterwards.

Are you nearsighted(近视)? Do you wear glasses? Many of you may say "yes". In fact, according to a report from the World Health Organization, China has the biggest population of nearsighted young people. More than 70%of middle school students in China are nearsighted.

In August, a plan to solve this problem was introduced. It aims to cut down the rate(率)of nearsightedness for middle school students to less than 60% by 2030. Schools across the country are taking action to meet this goal.

Luoyang Experimental School in Henan started with its desks. It has made desks with a board above the desktop. The board stops students from lowering their heads too close to their desktops. More than 400 students have used them so far. More students will use them soon. Similarly, the High School Affiliated to Remain University Chaoyang Branch School is now providing desks and chairs according to students' heights. Studies have shown that proper desk height can stop nearsightedness.

Spending more time outside can also reduce nearsightedness. Chengdu No. 7 High School makes sure that its students play outside for at least 80 minutes every day. "We have a PE class and a 20-minute break in the morning and afternoon to do exercises.”said Sun Zihan,l4.

Staring(凝视)at screens can also hurt our eyes. Beijing 101 Middle School has a solution to this problem. In its classrooms, there are special boxes for storing students' cell phones. "We have to hand in our cell phones every morning and get them back after school," said Huang Jiameng,15.
