We all know that Mr. Bean is a foolish man, but his inventor is an extremely clever man.
Mr. Bean is famous for being clumsy(笨拙的) and not very good at practical things. He is always getting into a mess. It's surprising that his inventor can write about these things because unlike his invention, he has a degree in Engineering and was awarded a Master of Science degree at Oxford University-one of the best universities in England!
Mr. Bean’s inventor is Rowan Atkinson. In fact. he plays the part of Mr. Bean himself.
Rowan Atkinson was born in the northeast of England and studied Engineering at Newcastle University before going to Oxford.
While he was at Oxford University, Rowan Atkinson started writing and performing comedy sketches. He developed the idea for Mr. Bean in the 1970s, but he did not decide on a name for the character until much later. Before he came up with the name Mr. Bean he tried other names like Mr. Cauliflower
Mr. Beam was first shown on TV in 1990 and was a huge success. It has won many awards and made Rowan Atkinson famous all over the world. Mr. Bean has been made into a cartoon series and a feature film. A new film Mr. Bean's Holiday has recently been made out, sadly , Rowan Atkinson says this will probably be his last appearance in the role.
Mr. Bean has helped to make Rowan Atkinson a millionaire. This has helped him pursue his hobby-collecting fast cars. He has a collection of cars including a number of Aston Martins and Formula 1 racing cars. They are very different from Mr. Bean's old Mini!
