If you have no special plans for your holidays, why not spend your time helping others? Nowadays, more and more young people in America volunteer to spend their school holidays working for others. Here are some of their plans.

Jim, 16

I¡¯m going to help the Forest Centre build new road in the mountains. I¡¯ll spend the whole summer living in the tent and breathing the clean mountain air. I¡¯m going to sleep under the stars. It will be a nice sport, and I¡¯ll be able to do something good at the same time.

Susan, 15

This summer, I¡¯m going to work for Special House Program. They build good, low-cost houses and sell them to families that are not very rich. They¡¯ll teach me what to do, so I¡¯ll help people and also have a chance to learn how to build houses.

Michael, 17

I¡¯m going to teach kids who have trouble reading. I¡¯ll work for a program called Reading for Life. Every day, I¡¯m going to help kids choose and read books that they like. I want to be a teacher and I love children, so this is going to be a great experience for me.

When you are not well, you may have to _______. The medicine may be not nice to take, but you have to take it, because it will do you good. After a few days, you will get better and you won¡¯t have to take any more medicine. In a short time you will be in good health again, and you will go back to school.

In the cold season, many people catch colds. When you have a cold, your nose is running, so you have to blow (ß©) your nose and wipe (²Á) it with your handkerchief (ÊÖÅÁ).

A bad cold with a high temperature is called flu. When you have the flu, you may pass it to other people around you, because it is very catching (Óд«È¾ÐÔµÄ). So when you have the flu, you must stay at home.

When you have a bad tooth, you go to see the dentist. He pulls out the bad tooth and looks over the others.

You should look after yourself. If you want to be healthy, you have to take exercise and eat a balanced diet (¾ùºâÒûʳ).
