17.Traffic rules help to keep order on the road. They also help to keep people safe.Traffic accidents killed more than 104,000people in China last year.As we all know there are more cars than before. So drivers and pedestrians (行人) must work together to make the roads much safer.
The pedestrian(行人) has as many rules to follow as the drivers. You should walk on the sidewalk(人行道) on the road.Always look carefully before you walk across the street.
If you often ride a bike, don't ride in the middle of the road or run through red traffic lights. When you ride a bike with a friend, don't look around or talk.
Drivers should slow down at the traffic lights. And the driver and passengers must always wear seat belts (安全带).Without seat belts, they may be badly hurt in a sudden accident.
You must be careful if you have to travel in a bus.Get on or get off a bus only after it stops. When it is full, don't try to get inside,or you may fall off.
Traffic rules are road safety rules. Please remember the famous saying"Thinking about others".

In our school, most students go to school by bike. But some of us don't obey the rules. Some ride on the left of the road or go across the road when the traffic light is red. It's too dangerous.【两种或以上违反交通规则的行为】I think we must be careful on the road.We should ride on the right instead of the left.We should also pay attention to the traffic around us and know traffic signals. If we don't obey the rules,we'll be in danger.【高分句型二】If everyone obeys the traffic rules, there will be fewer accidents.(建议)

9.Sometimes the greatest things are invented by mistake.The greatest mistake of all time could be those delicious snacks in your corner drugstore.
One day,a woman was making chocolate cookies.When she ran out of chocolate powder(粉),she took out a chocolate bar and broke it into little pieces.She added the pieces to her cookie dough(面团)and baked(烘培)it.She thought that the chocolate would(1)melt in the oven and make chocolate cookies.Far from melting,the pieces of chocolate stayed hard.When she took them out of the oven,she had chocolate chip cookies!
Another accidental invention was made by Frank Epperson,an eleven-year-old
boy.In 1905,Frank sat outside on a winter evening,mixing up a big jug(罐子)of powdered soda pop.Frank accidentally left the jug out during the night.When he went outside the next morning,he found the mixture in the jug frozen(冻僵)with the mixing stick stuck in the middle.Frank pulled out the frozen pop and tasted it.It was delicious!Frank started selling Epperson Icicles for 5cents each.He later changed the name to (2)Popsicles.
So,the next time you drop your hamburger into your ice cream or your cooked potatoes into your chicken soup, don't worry! Some of the most delicious foods in the world were invented that way!

7.Playing computer games is getting serious.
Washington teacher Tammie Schrader is so crazy about computer games in education that she thinks they can be used to teach programming skills which will help students in college-starting in middle school.
Canadian teacher Justin Holladay wrote a few simple games to help his students practice math skills, and when they caught on,he started his own company to create more of them.
And the University of Washington's Zoran Popovic got more than 4,000Washington students to master linear equations (线性方程) this spring by playing a computer game for just a few hours.
The growing availability of inexpensive tablet computers and a new generation of young teachers who grew up playing on computers have got interested in games for serious purposes.
"Six or seven years ago,selling games to schools was brutal,"said David Martz of Muzzy Lane Software,a Boston,US company that produces games for publishers such as McGraw-Hill.Now,he said,schools are interested in the promise of games-perhaps because gaming is so much more mainstream.
Software and education companies have tried for many years to combine youngsters'passion for computer games with educational progress, without much success.
Popovic thinks the first efforts to combine games with education fell flat because they were created by commercial companies.These companies were more interested in selling products than seeing students master a skill.
Teachers say there are some pretty good games on the market now.
Holladay,the math teacher from Alberta,Canada,began moving paper-based math games to the iPad,building games that allowed students to compete with each other and giving him instant  feedback on their progress.
The games improved the lessons he was teaching,and his students had fun playing,he said."They were a lot more engaged."
34.What can we conclude from the first four paragraphs?B
A.Many US teachers devote themselves to creating computer games for students.
B.An increasing number of teachers think computer games can help students learn.
C.Teachers hold different views toward the application of computer games in schools.
D.Many US schools are encouraging students to play computer games to relax.
35.Which of the following have helped promote computer games in schools according to the article?C
a.The availability of low-priced tablet computers.b.The favor of young teachers.
c.The advertisements of commercial companies.d.Parents'support.
e.Better games being produced.
A.a,b,c
B.a,c,d
C.a,b,e
D.b,d,e
36.The underlined phrase"fell flat"in Paragraph 8probably meansD.
A.turned out successful
B.caught attention
C.caused confusion
D.ended in failure
37.What is Holladay's attitude toward the idea of using computer games in class?A
A.It allows students to learn in a fun way.
B.It is not as helpful as people thought it would be.
C.It reduces the interaction between teachers and students.
D.It sounds good but it makes it inconvenient for teachers to get feedback from students.
