    When lidong comes， the weather is colder,days are shorter and nights are longer. Lidong is a Chinese word for one of the 24 solar terms (节气) .It means the beginning of winter. This year it falls on November 8.

    In winter,cold weather and less sunlight means that many people will be in poor health. Every winter in the UK,25，000〜30,000 people die from cold weather,according to the UK Department of Health. One of the best ways to keep healthy during winter is to stay warm.

    There are many ways to stay warm. Keeping your home warm is important. Livingrooms should be around 18〜21.°C  and other rooms at least 16°C . You can also use a hot water bottle or electric blanket (电热德) to keep warm while in bed.

    Getting plenty of exercise is also important for keeping your body warm. Take a walk on a sunny afternoon,do a long distance run or skip rope (跳绳) .These things keep your blood moving and your  metabolism      works.

    Food is an important source (来源) of energy,which helps warm us from the inside. High protein (蛋白质) foods such as fish and lean meat (瘦肉) provide a lot of energy. Add seasonings (调味料) to your winter dishes,such as ginger (生姜) ，pepper and garlic (蒜) these can help you warm up.

    A winter coat warms you up from the outside. It's better to wear several layers of thin clothing,for example,a shirt and a thin sweater,for added warmth. Clothes made from wool are usually very warm.
