    分析：把整个句子拆为两句：Dd you know the man？We met the man at the hotel gate．第一句做主句，第二句做定语从句放在第一句的the man的后面。在第二句中可以看到要把句子中的宾语the man改为定语从句的引出词，是指“人”，又是宾语，所以用whom，定语从句成了：whom we met at the hotel gate，而that在定语从句中可以指“人”，又没有主格和宾格的区分，所以也可以说成：that we met at the hotel gate．又由于引出词是定语从句中的宾语，是可以省略这个引出词的：we met at the hotel gate．这样D项的we met him是错误的(因为him就是the man，已经变成了引出词，就不存在这个词了)。
