     Have you seen the movie The Day After Tomorrow In the movie,the world becomes a large ocean because of global warming. It seems impossible,but if we don't cut carbon emissions (碳相卜放) to stop the temperature from rising,there will be real disasters.

   What is global warming? Global warming refers to an average rise in the Earth's temperature,which in turn causes changes in climate. Over the past 100 years,the Earth's temperature has risen one degree. A warmer     Earth may lead to changes in rainfall,melting of icebergs and an impact (影响) on plants,animals and humans. As the sea level rises,some countries are in danger of disappearing.

   Carbon dioxide is the major greenhouse gas that causes global warming. It mainly comes from factories and cars which burn fossil fuels (化石燃料) like coal and gasoline (汽油) . Governments hope to cut carbon emissions by 25 —45 percent by 2020. The EU plans to cut emissions by 20 percent by 2020. It can cut as much as 30 percent if other developed countries take action,too.

   For developing countries,to grow their economies,they have to build more factories,and carbon dioxide will be a byproduct (副 产品) . So,cutting emissions means slowing down their development. However,they are looking for new ways out. For   exmple,China says it will continue to develop solar (太阳的) and wind power,and will try to cut carbon emissions significantly hf 2020.
