One possible version:
I like reading very much. My favourite book is Jane Eyre. It was written by Charlotte Bronte. She was born in Britain. She was a famous writer in the world. She wrote many books and Jane Eyre was one of the best. In this book, she wrote about a woman named Jane Eyre. Jane Eyre wasn’t pretty, but she had a strong idea of self-respect. She never gave up whenever she met any difficulties in her life. I was deeply moved by her story. I like this book very much.

It is said that all dreams serve a purpose (目的) . While there is no agreement among scientists about why we dream, there are many ideas about the different kinds of dreams we have.
One common kind of dream is the repeating dream, in which the same story is repeated again and again, often for many months or even years, Some believe these are a sign people have a problem in their life and once that problem is gone then the dream will top. Others think they are a way to help people remember something very important.
Another well-known kind of dream is the nightmare, The pictures and stories in such dreams make people very afraid and dreamers usually remember them far more clearly than normal dreams. The cause of such dreams may be seeing something terrifying such as a car accident or some deadly snakes. Others think such dreams may be trying to make a person pay attention to something that is dangerous in their life.
Daydreams happen during wake-time when we forget where we are or that we are doing and find ourselves in a made-up story or unreal world. We often daydream when we are doing something that is not interesting or exciting. They help us think about our future.
Lucid dreams are the most fun. These happen when dreamers suddenly understand that they are dreaming. Instead of waking up, they stay in the dream and are able to control what happens in the dream as if they are making a movie.

Chinese are very generous(慷慨的) when it comes to educating their children. Not caring about the money, parents often send their children to the best schools or even abroad to England, the United States and Australia. They also want their children to take extra-course activities where they will either learn a musical instrument or ballet, or other classes which will give them a head in life. The Chinese believe that the more expensive an education is, the better it is. So parents will spend an unreasonable amount of money on education. Even poor couples will buy a computer for their son or daughter. However, what most parents fail to see is that the best early education they can give their children is usually very cheap.
Parents can see that their children are very skilled in some areas while poor in others. What most parents fail to realize though, is that today’s children are short of self-respect and self-confidence.
The problem is that parents are only educating their children on how to take multiple-choice tests and how to study well, but parents are not teaching them the most important skills that they need to be confident, happy and clever.
Parents can achieve this by teaching practical skills like cooking, sewing and doing other housework. Teaching a child to cook will improve many of the skills that he will need later in life. Cooking requires patience and time. It is an enjoyable but difficult experience. A good cook always tries to improve his cooking, so he will learn to work hard and finish his job successfully step by step. His result, a well-cooked dinner, will give him much satisfaction and lots of self-confidence.
Some old machines, such as a broken radio or TV set that you give your child to play with will make him curious and arouse(激发) his interest. He will spend hours looking at them, trying to fix them; your child might become an engineer when he grows up. These activities are not only teaching a child to read a book, but rather to think, to use his mind. And that is more important.
1.. Most Chinese parents don’t realize __________.
A. how much the best education is worth
B. when children should be educated
C. what children really need in later life
D. why school tests don’t satisfy children
2.. What is the main idea of the last paragraph?
A. Fixing old machines is very important.
B. Interest is necessary for everything.
C. Broken things are useful for children.
D. Using hands helps improve thinking ability.
3.. The writer’s attitude(看法) to children’s education is that __________.
A. the cheaper an education is, the better it is
B. children today should learn different skills
C. practical skills are useful to children's growth
D. school education can’t meet parents’ expectation

Some students are talking about who’s a better singer, Andy Lau or Jacky Cheung? | |
Jim | Some people say Jacky is the best Chinese singer. I don’t think so! Andy is the best. I went to his concert last year. It was so wonderful. I almost cried! OK, I did cry, but that’s because Andy is so handsome! |
Li Tao | I don’t agree with Jim. Andy sounds like every other singer. His voice is nothing special. On the other hand, Jacky’s voice is different from others, and his songs are so romantic (浪漫的). |
Linda | I think they’re about the same. But Andy is a better actor. I’ve seen almost all of his movies. Remember the one where he was a pilot and his plane crashed (坠毁) near a farm? I love that movie! |
Zhang Fang | I also think Jacky is a better singer. I prefer his Cantonese (粤语) songs. Maybe they sound better because Cantonese is his first language. |
Liu Ying | I agree. Jacky’s Cantonese songs are better than his Mandarin (普通话) songs, though I still like all his songs! |
1.How many students are talking about Andy and Jacky?
A. 3. B. 4. C. 5. D. 6.
2.____ thinks Andy is the best Chinese singer.

I needed to buy a camera, one that was simply good at taking good snaps (快照). So I went on the net, spent 15 minutes reading product reviews on good websites, wrote down the names of three top recommendations (推荐) and headed for my nearest big camera store. There in the cupboard was one of the cameras on my list. And it was on special offer. Oh joy. I pointed at it and asked a salesgirl, “Can I have one of those?” “Do you want to try it first?" she said. It didn’t quite sound like a question. “Do I need to?” I replied. “There’s nothing wrong with it?” “No, no. But you should try it,” she said encouragingly. “Compare it with the others.”
I looked across at the others: shelves of similar cameras placed along the wall, offering different prices. With so many models to choose from, it seemed that I would have to spend hours weighing X against Y, always trying to consider Z and possibly H at the same time. But when I had finished, I would still have only the same two certainties that I had entered the store with: first, soon after I carried my new camera out of the shop, it would be worth half what I paid for it; and second, my wonderful camera would very quickly be replaced by a new model.
But something in the human soul whispers that you can beat these traps (陷阱) by making the right choice. In the end, I agreed to try the model I had chosen. The salesgirl seemed a kind girl. So I let her take out my chosen camera from the cupboard, show how it took excellent pictures of my fellow shoppers... and when she started to introduce the special features, I cut in to ask whether I needed to buy a carry-case and a memory card as well.
Why do we think that new choices still offer us anything new? Perhaps it is because they offer a chance to avoid facing the fact that our real choices in this culture are far more limited than we would like to imagine.
1.The salesgirl insisted that the writer should ______.
A. try the camera to see if there was anything wrong with it
B. compare the camera he had chosen with the others
C. get more information about different companies
D. trust her and stop asking questions
2.What does the writer mean by “it would be worth half what I paid for it”?
A. The camera was not good.
B. He should get a lower price.
C. The camera would soon fall in value.
D. The price of the camera was too high.
3.The writer decided to try the model he had chosen because he ______.
A. knew very little about it
B. didn’t trust the salesgirl any more
C. wanted to make sure he chose the best one
D. wanted to take pictures of his fellow shoppers
4. It can be inferred from the passage that in the writer’s opinion, ______.
A. salespersons are not always very kind
B. people waste too much money on cameras
C. cameras have become an important part of our daily life
D. we don’t actually need so many choices when buying a product
