My name is Marta. I live at the shelter. My mom, brother, and I came to the shelter six months ago. Our apartment building and car burned down. Now my mom can't work. So, we had to come to the shelter. When my mom goes back to work,we will get a new home. She is taking classes at the shelter. Soon, she will get a new job.
I go to school near the shelter. Every day the bus comes to pick me up. My brother comes, too. When I first came to the shelter, the kids there teased me. It's better now that I've made some friends. My friend, Lisa, lives at the shelter, too. Sometimes I go to my friend Sam's house after school.
Sundays are good. We go to the church next door to the shelter. We have lunch at the church. We can stay there all day. The people at the shelter have been very nice. Mom's classes are almost done. Mom will be able to look for a job. The shelter will help us find a new place to live. I hope it will be near the shelter. Then I can stay in my school and see my friends. Living in the shelter is OK. But it will be better to have our own place again.

Jamie Feilden has been interested in farms since two years ago. Now he is planning to pass his love for farms on to students.
28-year-old Mr. Feilden is setting up a charity(慈善机构).He plans to raise money for students from city schools who would like to visit Jamie's Farm and experience country life.
Mr. Feilden first got the idea for his project when he started working for the Teach First Project after graduating from university in Edinburgh.
"When I worked in the school in Croydon, I realized the students there had little experience of farm life. Many of the students in this school had never been out of Croydon before. Of course, they had never seen farm animals”, said Mr. Feilden. "So I opened up a small farm in the school. It was a real success.”
Later Mr. Feilden took a group of students back to his hometown. There the students saw many animals. They had lots of fun spending more time in the countryside. Since then he has done more work on his own farm proj ect. He even started working for it full-time.
Mr. Feilden said, " Living and working in the countryside can give children a chance to eat food produced on the farm. They can also do some gardening, cooking and sightseeing there."
Now Jamie's Farm needs volunteers. If you are interested in donating(捐赠)your money or time, you can get in touch with Jamie by e-mailing him.
