A poor girl was selling matches(火柴) in the street on Christmas Eve. She was very hungry and cold but she couldn’t return home. She didn’t sell any match , her stepmother would be angry.
It was very cold. The girl felt so cold and hungry that she stopped in front of a beautiful house. She sat down at the foot of the wall. She wanted to be warmer so she ignited (点燃) a match. Soon it went out, she ignited another. The light was very nice. She suddenly had an unusual feeling. She felt she became light, and slowly she began to fly into the sky. She flew higher and higher and at last she found herself in the clouds. A group of people were coming to meet her. At the head of them was her grandma.
