It’s three thirty in the afternoon at Raynham Primary School in London. Students are ready for their after-school math lesson. Thousands of kilometers away, their math tutors are also arriving for class. Each pupil gets an online tutor. The students work on their computer screen and wear a headset (耳机) to talk to their tutor.
Their classroom teacher, Altus, says he has seen an improvement in results. Nine-year-old Samia says she enjoys the online lessons. She said, “It helps me because sometimes when we’re doing it in class, I don’t hear the teacher very much and I don’t understand, but online is better.”
Tom Hooper started the company. It provides the online tutoring. The company is called Bright Spark Education.
Children today feel very confident(有信心的)online, so they enjoy their learning. Online tutoring costs between twenty and twenty-five dollars an hour. An online tutor is about half the cost of traditional face-to-face tutoring.
Bright Spark Education says the online tutoring is used only as an addition to the regular teaching. The company says its service doesn’t threat the teachers’ jobs in Britain.
Some parents say they are pleased with the results. But some students still hate math. Even with the latest technology(技术) to teach it, math is still not everyone’s favorite subject.

Scientists believe crying and laughing come from the same part of the brain(大脑). Just as laughing has many health advantages, scientists are discovering that so does ___2.___,too.Whatever it takes for us to reduce pressure(压力) is important to our emotional(情感的) health, and crying seems to work well. One study found that 85 percent of ___3.___ and 73 percent of men report feeling better___4.____ crying.
Besides, Researchers agree that when we cry, people around us ___5.____kinder and friendly and they are more ready to provide support and comfort. Tears ___6.____make us understand
our emotions better; sometimes we don’t even know we’re very sad until we cry. We learn about our emotions through crying, and then we can deal with them.
Just as crying can be healthy, not crying — holding back tears of anger, stress or suffering — can be ____7.____for physical health. Studies have shown that too much control of emotions can lead to high blood pressure, heart problems and some other illnesses. If you have a health problem, doctors will certainly not ask you to cry. But ___8.___you want to cry, don’t fight it. It’s a natural — and healthy — emotional response(反应).

Singles Day (光棍节)falls on every November 11th, and as the name suggests, this holiday is one specially for people who are still living the single life. It’s surprising that China is the only country in the world that has set up a special day for singles to celebrate(庆祝) their lives. To find

One day they played Mahjong from 11am until 11 pm. During the game, no matter who won, the winning card was always the 'Sitiao' card. And that day happened to be November 11th. In order to remember the day, they called it Singles Day.
For breakfast on Singles Day, singles often eat four youtiao, which means the four "ones" in "11.11". Many singles also choose to say goodbye to their single lives on this day.
