    13．When people find out that I am a journalist，they often ask me：What do you think about the future of newspapers？
    I tell them that I think the future of communications is moving online．People expect me to be fearful for the future of print．After all，in some people's minds I wouldn't be able to build a career in journalism if it all moves online．However，strangely enough，I'm actually comforted by the fact that online journalism is becoming usual．I am a blogger who has always been able to find a home for my writing online
    Since I began writing blogs，I have become aware of how many people you can reach with online writing．Compare this to the newspapers circulation base，and you will have a strong reason for online journalism．
    In her successful blog post titled The Job I have spent the last year learning is not the one I will have，author Jenny Surane states，"Print is an expensive product to love．And general managers，publishers and editors must now figure out a profitable way to get their news into readers'heads，"She goes on to state that people don't feel like picking up a newspaper now and would rather scroll（滚屏）through their Twitter feed，and get new from many different sources．
    If print is dying，then a new form of communicating information is being born．The need for information has not died．If anything，it has increased．What has died，rather，is the way in which information is presented．
    Now more than ever，in this age of information，there is a desire for stories on the same topic from different points of view．The printing industry can keep pace with the need of providing a variety of sources，if it chooses to．

    To aid the species'recovery，scientists need to know more about where they travel，explains study leader Juan Pablo Torres-Florez．He is a whale researcher at Austral University of Chile in Valdivia．Understanding the whales'mi grations could help guide protection measures，he says．
    In 1998，a group of scientists surveyed blue whales in the waters off islands known as the Gala pagos （Gah-LOP-ah-GOES） where they photographed the whales they saw．And，without hurting the animals，they also collected samples of some of the whales'meat which let them later look at the animals'DNA．A different group of scientists collected similar data from whales off the coast of Chile from 2002 to 2013．
    To make the comparison job easier，scientists focus on the area around a whale's fin（鳍），which is on its back．"Comparing those patterns we are able to identify if a whale is the same one we saw in different places or if the same whale is sighted during different years in the same place，"he says．
    One whale showed up in the Gala pagos on November 6，1998，among a group of nine animals．It appeared again in Chile on February 23，2006．The photographs and the DNA matched．The whale was nicknamed"Isabela，"a combination of Torres-Florez's daughter and the island near which it was sighted．The whale's journey was at least 5，200 kilometers（3，200miles）．That makes it the longest north-south journey ever recorded for a member of her species．
