    13．Heidi looked across the road and saw three tired-looking people．One was older，in his 50s，about Dad's age．The others were his son and daughter-in-law．It had clearly been a long，hot day for them．To add to this，Heidi realized that they had discovered that the battery had been stolen from their car．They lived in Avondale，which was 25to 35miles away．

    4．Long after the 1998World Cup was won，disappointed fans were still cursing the disputed refereeing（裁判）decisions that denied victory to their team．A researcher was appointed to study the performance of some top referees．
    The researcher organized an experimental tournament（锦标赛）involving four youth teams．Each match lasted an hour，divided into three periods of 20minutes during which different referees were in charge．
