    ［阅读材料］                     Away from Net-bar Campaign
    It has been reported that a middle school in Guangzhou City has recently launched （发起）a campaign named “Away from Net-bar”. More than a thousand students have signed their names for their solemn promise（庄严承诺）that they will not spend a single minute in the net-bars. With the nearing of the summer vacation, this campaign is especially meaningful for the healthy development of the minors（未成年人）.
    The Internet has brought people great convenience in getting information, entertainment and contact with others, and it has also benefited some businessmen, especially the owner of net-bars. While it is true that most net-bars are running legally, it is also true that some are offering unhealthy programs（软件）that involve（涉及） violence and sex content（色情）. Since most middle school students are prone to be influenced and they can hardly tell which bars are doing well and which ones are not, it is only advisable that they stay away from all. Besides, staying away from net-bars also does good to students’ physical health. By passively sitting too long in front of the computer screen, both their eyesight and physique（体格；身体的发育）suffer.
    Obviously, the Away from Net-bar Campaign is an activity that is worth advocating （推崇；主张）and it merits（应得到；值得）other schools’ reference.

    Away from Net-bar Campaign
    A middle school in Guangzhou has recently started/carried out a campaign named “Away from Net-bar”, in which many students have signed their names to refuse to enter the net-bar.
    This is a piece of good news to both their teachers and their parents because of the following two reasons. Firstly, although nowadays the Internet has brought people great convenience in getting information, entertainment and getting in touch/contact with others/other people, yet it is true that some of the net-bars are running/operating illegally, offering unhealthy programs with violence and sex content. Secondly, once the middle school students are addicted to these programs, they will spend day and night /night and day there on the so-called games in the bar, forgetting their study in school and their real aims of life.
    Since it is difficult to tell which bars are running legally and which ones are not, we have to give them advice that we students keep distance away from the bars so as to keep away from /stay away from those exciting but harmful programs.

Seeing that, Tom rushed over and saved him without any hesitation. After Peter got recovered from the drowning, he wrote with a knife on a stone: “Today my best friend Tom saved my life.”
    Feeling curious, Tom, who had slapped and saved his best friend, asked Peter, “After I beat you, you wrote something in the sand but just now you put down what I had done on a stone. Why?”
    Peter replied: “When someone hurts us, we should take it down in the sand where winds of forgiveness can erase it away. But when someone does something good for us, we must carve it in stone where no wind can ever erase it.”
    Hearing that, Tom was deeply moved and understood what Peter had said and what he had done.

    Honesty is one of the most treasured traditional values in China. The children are taught to be honest when they are very young. At schools the students are also instructed to be honest.
    However, with the development of society, we often hear complaints about dishonesty. Reports with the theme of dishonesty often appear in the media. For example, some people try to get rich and live a comfortable life. But they do not work hard honestly, instead they cheat others. They sell something quite ordinary at a very high price. Some people's delaying paying back the loan can serve as another example. Some people, including some college students, get loan from the bank, and promise to pay within, say, 3 years. However, they don't do that.
    The dishonest people sometimes can get benefit from their behaviors. So some people assert that dishonesty can bring people benefit, while honesty only makes people suffer. Is that so? Definitely not. It is always true that honesty is the best policy. It pays to be honest. The cheater selling "the treasure" mentioned above will surely be disclosed and punished some day.
    On the contrary, if he had been honest, neither the buyer nor he himself would have suffered. The people who do not return money in time will sooner or later become infamous, and will not get the money from others again. If he had acted differently, he would have earned respect and trust, meanwhile, the bank would not have suffered from loss.
