    I have to say that am shocked at just how bad the new music is. This cannot be the same band that produced great albums such as HTDAAB and ATYCLB! This is awful! They either do not care anymore, or have completely lost it. I never thought U2 would become irrelevant, but they have officially become one of those bands that you will now say, “Remember when they were great?”

    Total drivel, Mr Harris. The new album is great, far better than the safe, cynical HTDAAB and ATYCLB. U2 have become inventive again, like they were in the 1990s. thank goodness!

    Agree, Dan. The new album is the best since Actung Baby. Magnificent is an anthem in the waiting, Breathe is unbelievable, and Stand Up Comedy is absolutely outstanding----- to name just three! Loving the new sound, pure class as usual.

    Totally agree with you guys. This album is unbelievable. Breathe is definitely a great song, same with Moment of Surrender. I bet their upcoming tour will be amazing. If you haven’t bought the CD yet, you should. I bought mine on Amozon.com for $3.99. I couldn’t believe it.

    TIJUANA, Mexico – A powerful earthquake swayed （摇动） buildings from Los Angeles to Tijuana, killing two people in Mexico, blacking out cities and forcing the evacuation （疏散） of hospitals and nursing homes．One California city closed off its downtown due to unstable buildings．

    Escobedo said one man was killed when his home collapsed just outside of Mexicali and another died when he rushed into the street in panic and was struck by a car．At least 100 people were injured in the city, most of them struck by falling objects．Power was out in virtually the entire city．

    On March 5, 2009, Michael Jackson stood in front of crowds of fans. Before screaming fans, he pronounced with pumping arms: “This is it!”
    A few months later, Jackson was dead. With the late pop star’s return to radio, television and the cultural events, Forbes judges that Jackson has made $90 million since his death June 25. This figure is based on his royalties（版税） from album sales, radio play, rights to his name and royalties from his stock in the Sony/ATV music catalog (编目权).

    Chinese and Russian armed forces on Wednesday began a five-day joint military drill aimed at boosting their troops’ capability（提高部队能力）in fighting against terrorist. They will conduct a joint antiterror military exercise beginning July 22.
    The exercise, named “Peace Mission-2009”, will be carried out in Russia’s Far East area and the Shenyang Military Area Command in northeast China, according to the two countries’ defense authorities. It will last five days.
    About 1,300 people from the army and air force of each side will participate in the exercise. The Russian forces would also send an airborne assault unit(空降突击连) to participate in the exercise, according to the Defense Ministry.

    The other four member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Takistan, Uzbekistan and the SCO’s secretariat will send military observers.
    China, Russia and other member states of the SCO held two similar anti-terrorism exercises under the name of “Peace Mission” in 2005 and 2007 respectively.

    BEIJIG—The two-day visit to Washington has been heavy for British Prime Minister Gordon Brown as he attempts to improve ties with Washington and promote his international image ahead of the upcoming G-20 economic summit in London.
    Special Relationship
    Brown had been praising the “ special relationship” between Britain and the United States before he traveled to Washington. “There is no international partnership in recent history that has served the world better than the special relationship between Britain and the United States,” Brown said in an article in The Sunday Times of London.     On the night of May, 7,1942, a plane took off from an Air Force base in England to stop German fighters over the English Channel. The pilot of the plane was Captain Thomas Nash. Looking eastward, Nash saw twelve orange lights in a row, moving at an extremely high speed. As an experienced flyer, he had never seen anything like them. Thinking that they might be a new German weapon, he decided to follow them. But when he swung the plane around and headed directly for the lights, they disappeared.

What were they? No one knows for sure, but there is an interesting theory to explain them.
