    One possible version:

    Yesterday afternoon a robbery happened in a bank in the Park Street.

    According to the witnesses' statements, it was five minutes to 5:00 pm, just before the closing time of the bank. And it was raining heavily, with little traffic on the road outside. Suddenly, two young men with masks rushed in and threatened the clerks with guns. Then they put the money in bags, rushed out and drove away with about 20,000"dollars. All the things lasted for only a few minutes.

    Fortunately, there was nobody killed or wounded in the robbery. The police are searching for the robbers, hoping whoever gets the connected information calls them up as soon as possible.

        London [2009-4-01] -- In the first meeting between Chinese President Hu Jintao and US President Barack Obama prior to the Group of 20 summit in London, the two leaders pledged that both countries will be working together to help the world resist the financial crisis.

        China and the US have agreed to prioritize the two countries' relations by establishing the new strategic economic dialogue.

        The two teams will be headed by Vice Premier Wang Qishan and State Councilor Dai Bingguo from the Chinese side and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner from the US side.

        President Hu Jintao and US President Barack Obama made the announcement to the press before they went into the official meeting, their first, at Winfield House, residence of the US ambassador to the UK.

        Although it is their first meeting, they have kept a close contact, which Obama said will "set the stage" for both countries "to tackle the challenges in the years to come."

        Both presidents highlighted the importance of China-US relations, especially during the current economic crisis.

        Obama said he hoped their meeting will be constructive and open not only about the whole state of the world economy during the current crisis, but to the efforts to improve peace and security for both countries and the world.

        Hu said all the positive results the two countries have achieved have not come easily, adding that he hoped to develop good working relationship and personal friendship with Obama.

        Sino-US relations are of fundamental interests not only to both countries, but to peace, stability and prosperity to Asia and the world.

    Young men often give flowers to young women when they are in love. This tradition may have come from Turkey.

      In the 1700s in Turkey, it was quite popular for people in love to send each other baskets full of strange things. The baskets were delivered secretly to the person who was receiving it. Usually, an old woman who sold flowers or fruit on the street left the basket beside the person’s door.

      These baskets included a variety of “gifts”: flowers, stones, feathers, wax, and even charcoal. Each thing in the basket had a special meaning. By figuring out the secret message contained in each item, the person who received the basket began to understand little by little the true feeling of the person who sent it.

      This idea of sending gifts of love with secret meanings quickly spread to Germany, France, and England. However, as time passed, only flowers remained popular.
      An innocent bunch of flowers told young ladies about the feeling in the hearts of young men. Each different flower held a different meaning. For example, the flowers from an orange tree meant, “You are beautiful and pure.” Pink carnations meant, “My love for you is strong and great.” Yellow roses, on the other hand, meant, “I saw you with someone else.”

      Many flower dictionaries were made to help young people in love understand the meaning of the flowers they received. Not all of the dictionaries agreed, however, on the meaning of each flower, so a person had to be careful about the flowers they chose to send.

      By the 1880s, using flowers to send messages had fallen out of fashion, and the more direct way of sending love letters began. Today, flowers are still considered a lovely gift, but the meaning for each kind of flower has been lost.
