读写任务。
     阅读下面的短文,然后按照要求写一篇150词左右的英语短文。
Michael is always in a good mood and always has something positive to say. When someone asks
him how he is doing, he will reply,“If I were any better, I'd be twins!”
His style really made me curious, so one day I went up to Michael and asked him,“I don't get it.
You can't be positive all the time. How do you do it?”
Michael replied,“Each morning I wake up and say to myself, ‘Mike, you can choose to be in a
good mood or in a bad mood.’ I choose to be in a good mood. Each time something bad happens, I
choose to learn from it. Every time someone comes to me complaining, I choose to point out the positive
side of life.”
Then Michael added,“Life is all about choices. When you cut away all the junk, every situation is
a choice. You choose how you react to situations. You choose how people will affect your mood. You
choose to be in a good mood or bad mood. The bottom line is: It's your choice how you live your life.”I
reflected on what Michael said. And I learn from him that every day we can choose to live fully. Attitude
is everything.

One possible version:
                                                           Attitude is everything
The passage mainly tells us that Michael's life style is always positive, so he is always cheerful. He
says whether one is in a good mood or in a bad one depends on one's choice. It's attitude that really
matters.
Attitude is very important to deal with the difficulties in our life. The passage reminds me of a similar
experience. When I was in junior school, I used to be poor in expressing myself clearly. As a result,
many people looked down on me and I had very few friends. It seemed that I was really hopeless.
However, I believed that hard work could change everything. So, I tried to tell myself I could do it.
Every day I practiced reading aloud and tried to seize every chance to talk with others. Finally, I made
great progress. Now I can speak as fluently as anybody around me. If I hadn't carried on, I wouldn't
have done so well now.
I think it was my positive attitude that changed everything.  Attitude is everything.

The elephant and the fly

A disciple(信徒), who was disturbed by the fact that his mind was in constant unrest, asked his teacher, “Why are most people's minds restless? What can one do to still the mind? ” The teacher looked at the disciple, smiled and told him a story:

An elephant was standing and picking leaves from a tree.A small fly came, flying and buzzing(嗡嗡叫)near his ear.The elephant waved it away with his long ears. Then the fly came again, and the elephant waved it away once more.

This was repeated several times. Then the elephant asked the fly, “Why are you so restless and noisy? Why can't you stay for a while in one place? ”

The fly answered, “I am attracted to whatever I see, hear or smell. My five senses pull me constantly in all directions and I cannot resist them. What is your secret? How can you stay so calm and still? ”

The elephant stopped eating and said, “My five senses do not rule my attention.Whatever I do, I get immersed in it.Now that I am eating, I am completely absorbed in eating. In this way I can enjoy my food and chew it better.I rule and control my attention, and not the other way around.”

Upon hearing these words, a smile appeared on the disciple's face, “I understand! If my five senses are in control of my mind and attention, then my mind is in constant unrest. If I am in charge of my five senses and attention, then my mind becomes calm.”

Dear Jane,
My dear daughter, do you know how shocked I was to be told that you have chosen to be a
journalist? A short, slim and weak girl like you should take such a job as her career! Do you know

读写任务。
阅读下面的短文,然后按照要求写一篇150词左右的英语短文。
When I was growing up, I had an old neighbor named Dr. Gibbs. He didn't look like any doctor I'd ever
known. When Dr. Gibbs wasn't saving lives, he was planting trees.
The good doctor had some interesting theories concerning planting trees. He believed in "No pains, no
gains". He never watered his new trees, which was beyond many people. Once I asked why. He answered
that watering plants spoiled them, and that if you water them, each following tree generation will grow weaker
and weaker. So you have to make things tough for them. He talked about how watering trees made for shallow
roots, and how trees that weren't watered had to grow deep roots in search of water. I took him to mean that
deep roots were to be treasured.
So he never watered his trees. He'd plant an oak (橡树) and, instead of watering it every morning, he'd
beat it with a rolled-up newspaper. Smack! Slap! Pow! I asked him why he did that, and he said it was to
get the tree's attention.
Dr. Gibbs passed away a couple of years after I left home. Every now and again, I walked by his house
and looked at the trees that I'd watched him plant some twenty-five years ago. They're extremely tall, big
and strong now. Those trees wake up in the morning and beat their chests and drink their coffee black.

读写任务。
     阅读下面的短文,然后按照要求写一篇150词左右的英语短文。
Jackie is perhaps the most easily annoyed koala (考拉) at the Featherdale Wildlife Park in southern
Australia. All the koalas there are unhappy and complaining. You would be too if you were used to night
activities and someone kept waking you up all day while you were trying to sleep it off. That's right-sleep
it off. The average koala is always half asleep because it feeds on the leaves of a special kind that makes
it sleepy.
The reason Jackie and her fellow koalas are repeatedly awoken from their deep sleep is so they can be
hugged and photographed by tourists, who make the trips to Featherdale and an increasing number of other
national parks for just that special experience. Whatever department in the Aussie government in charge of
such things is now moving to make the practice illegal, which is understandable. How would you react, my
friend, if you were trying to sleep off a dozen times and some round, furry creature smelling of grass kept
waking you?
