                                                  The importance of keeping a good mood
         People in modem society live under a lot of pressure from many aspects such as education, career and
    family. It is important to keep a good mood in your daily life. In the following context I am going to justify
    my point from two aspects.
         First, individually speaking, to keep a good mood makes everything easier to you. Just like the grease
    smoothing a machine, keeping a good mood optimizes your life. If you are happy, work would not seem to
    be that hard. You may learn to enjoy the process. Second, for the sake of people around you, you should
    keep a good mood. If you are very cheerful every day, you are able to throw your positive influence upon
    others who are also faced with varied pressure. Just like a shining sun, keeping a good mood enables you
    to radiate your happiness to everyone around you and then they respond to you with an enlightening smile.
         To keep a good mood helps to start a positive recycle around you which may free pressure. Why not
    meet your life with a smile?

    There is a story telling of a religious master who is said to be capable of moving mountains. A man came to him asking for a demonstration (证明). The master sat in front of a mountain for a moment, then went to the other side of it and declared the end of the demonstration. All the audiences were greatly puzzled and begged him for an explanation. He said, “There has been a way of moving mountains; what you can do is to go to the mountain if it doesn’t come.”
    One of my friends, though with the makings of a merchant, was bent on being a painter. He resigned from office and devoted himself entirely to painting at home. Several years, however, saw no progress in this regard.
    A painful retrospection (回顾) brought him to his senses. He made up his mind to take up business in place of painting. It took him only a few years to become a rich businessman. Meanwhile he spent his spare time exchanging experience and skills in painting. His works finally won acclamation by expert painters and were on sale in art gallery and grand hotels. He had his collections published and his dream of becoming a painter came true at last.

    阅读下面的短文，然后按照要求写一篇150词左右的英语短文。

    There was a man who had four sons. He wanted his sons to learn not to judge things too quickly. So he sent them each to go and look at a pear tree that was a great distance away. The first son went in winter, the second in the spring, the third in the summer and the youngest son in the fall.

    When they all had gone and returned, he called them together to describe what they had seen. The first son said the tree was ugly and twisted. The second son said no, it was covered with green buds ad full of promise. The third son disagreed, he said it was filled with blossoms that smelled so sweet and looked so beautiful that it was the most graceful things he had ever seen. The last son disagreed with all of them, insisting that it was ripe and drooping with fruit, full of life and satisfaction.

    The man then explained to his sons that they were all right, because they had seen but one season in the tree’s life. He told them that you cannot judge a tree, or a person, by one season. If you give up when it’s winter, you’ll miss the promise of your spring, the beauty of your summer, and satisfaction of your fall.

    Don’t let the pain of one season destroy the joy of all the rest!
