    Brain cancer is a concern that Ms．Davis examines．Over all，there has not been an increase in its incidence since cell phones arrived．But the average masks an increase in brain cancer in the 20-to-29age group and a drop for the older population．
    "Most cancers have multiple causes，"she says，but she points to laboratory research that suggests low-energy radiation could damage cells that could possibly lead to cancer．
    Children are more vulnerable（易受伤的）to radiation than adults，Ms．Davis and other scientists point out．Radiation that penetrates only five centimeters into the brain of an adult will reach much deeper into the brains of children because their skulls are thinner and their brains contain more absorptive fluid（易吸收的液体）．No studies have yet been completed on cell phone radiation and children，she says．

    3．When I first told people I was going to work in Cameroon，the most common reaction was："Why？"The second was："It's in Africa； you'll die!"The third："Where is that？"So let me give some answers．I was offered a job that looked interesting in a part of the world I'd never been to before．I'd also long had an interest in Africa，so I decided it was time to find out the reality．
    A small amount of research showed that in more than 40years since gaining independence，Cameroon has been a peaceful country with no wars．Not only are there no wars，but Cameroon is a food exporter to the region．
    Now，after three years，I can say that these have been the healthiest years of my life!No malaria or any of the other frightening diseases you read about when Africa is mentioned．The worst thing that ever happened to me was a bout of food poisoning-once．
    So what is it like to teach here？Well surprisingly not so different from teaching anywhere else．
    Most students come to us with a bit of English in their heads．Cameroon is a bilingual country with French and English as official languages，while there are also close to 200local ethnic languages in a country of 16million people．French is the dominant language，spoken by about 80% of the population．
    The local school system is very traditional and somewhat strict．Perhaps not surprisingly when there can be up to 150students in the classroom （of which maybe 30have the books，and there are probably seats for 70）．
    Like anywhere else，students appreciate it if you know a bit about their country，and not just Roger Milla （the top scorer of the 1990World Cup，in case you're wondering）．It helps if you know the names of the ten provinces，know who the first president was，or can say a word in a local language．
    So in conclusion：Cameroon isn't just football．Not is it war，poverty and disease．It's just life and people，like anywhere else．

    7．Leonardo da Vinci's mother may have been a Chinese slave according to a new research by an Italian historian and novelist-Angelo Paratico，who has spent the last 20years living and working in Hong Kong，researching the links between his homeland and China over the past half century．
    Mr Paratico said the documents he has uncovered during two years of research form the basis of his latest book Leonardo Da Vinci，a Chinese scholar lost in Renaissance（文艺复兴） Italy．The book，which is due to be published next year，uncovers evidence that there's a link between Da Vinci and the Far East．
    Speaking to the South China Morning Post，Mr Paratico said，"I am sure that Leonardo's mother was from the East，but to make her a Chinese，we need to use a deductive method（演绎法）．One wealthy client of Leonardo's father had a slave called Caterina．After Leonardo's date of birth，she disappeared from the documents．She was no longer working there．"
    It is believed that his mother was called Caterina，who，according to some reports，was a local peasant．But Mr Paratico's new work claims it is most likely that Da Vinci's mother was a slave．Supporting his theory，he said，"During the Renaissance，countries like Italy and Spain were full of slaves from the East．"
    He claimed that there were certain aspects of Da Vinci's life and works which suggest a Chinese link．For instance，he was writing with his left hand from left to right and he was also a vegetarian，which was not common．Mona Lisa is probably a portrait of his mother，as Sigmund Freud said in 1910．On the back of Mona Lisa，there is a Chinese landscape and even her face looks Chinese．
    Mr Paratico said he believes the only way to solve the mystery is to dig out some of Da Vinci's relations in Florence and extract some DNA．
