A.The world is running  out of time as watches don't function well.
B.It is uncertain that watches will remain popular.
C.Some people claim that the watch industry is at a crossroads.
D.The function of a watch has changed to stay on the market.
E.New designs for a watch make it appeal to customers.
F.The image of a watch satisfy many different tastes.
_______1. In today's world of cell phones, mini laptops and MP3 players, most people have at
least one time-telling tool with them. Since these devices are so common, is time running out for the
500-year-old watch? According to some consumers, yes. New Jersey teenager Charlie Wollman
says a watch is "an extra piece of equipment with no necessary function." Many young adults agree
and they say they use their cell phones to tell time. Louis Galie, a senior vice president at Timex,
said that fewer young people wear watches today than five years ago.
_______2. However, watchmakers optimistically say that watches regain popularity when consumers
reach their 20s and 30s. By then, they are willing to spend money on a quality timepiece that doesn't
just keep good time. Fifty years ago, watchmakers laid great emphasis on products' accuracy. But in
recent years, the watch industry has transformed itself into an accessory business. And for many today,
the image a watch communicates has become more important than the time it tells.
_______3. "Complications"-features that go beyond simple timekeeping-are an important part of a
watch's image. Today's watches offer a host of features that suit almost any personality. These features
include altitude trackers, compasses, lunar calendars, USB drives, and even devices that measure the
effectiveness of golf swings.
_______4. Creativity is also a key element in today's watches. For example, Japanese watchmaker
Tokyoflash makes watches that don't even look like watches. The company's popular Shinshoku model
uses different color lights to tell the time. It looks more like a Futuristic bracelet than a watch. Another
Japanese watchmaker, Eleeno, makes a "handless" watch. Using a ring of circles to keep time, this
watch makes an excellent conversation piece.
_______5. Whether a watch communicates fashion sense, creative flair or a love of sports, consumers
want their timepieces to stand out. Nowadays, everyone has the same kind of gadget(小器械) in their
bags, so people want to make a statement with what's on their wrists. Will this interest in wrist fashion

下面文章中5处(第81-85题)需要添加小标题。请从以下选项(A、B、C、D、E和F)中选出符合各段意思的小标题。选项中有一项是多余选项。

A. Education yourself in a long-term way.
B. Save up for retirement.
C. Work towards a goal.
D. Spend money carefully to get long pleasure.
E. Wise investment can make your life different.
F. Develop lasting personal relationship.
1.______
We all want to buy a new piece of electronic product, spend an expensive night in town, or take a loan for the good-looking care we can’t afford in order to make ourselves happy. You might feel great when you get those things, but later rash(轻率的) spending will hurt you a lot. Because expensive things don’t create lasting happiness and security. Careful spending will bring you great enjoyment in the future.
2._______
Wise investing is also something everyone can work on to live happily. It even can make a big difference when they retire between their 40’s and their 60’s. For example, if a person in his early 20’s invests 20% of his income in a fund(基金), the interest he earns will equal his current salary when he reaches his early 40’s. He could retire without a drop in income!
3._______
To be happy, we need continuous growth. The best way to grow is life-long education. This doesn’t mean you need to spend 2 hours reading every day. What you need is just to keep an open mind and search for fresh ideas. Education builds over time. You might think that the bits of wisdom you acquire every day don’t mean much, but over the years they will add up to make you a wiser person.
4. ________
The personal relationships we develop with friends and family members are the greatest source of happiness in our lives. Don’t forget them. Taking some time to build and enjoy personal relationships is essential to long-term happiness. No matter how successful you are, you’ll probably be miserable without the people you care about.
5.________
If you always feel unhappy and think your life is terrible, try to set a goal which interests you a lot. We can’t control everything in our lives, but working towards a goal gives us something positive to focus on and lays the foundation for the future success.

下面文章中5处(第61~65题)需要添加小标题,请从以下选项(A、B、C、D、E和F)中选出符合各段意思的小标题。选项中有一项是多余选项。

A. You don’t track your progress

B. You don’t have a plan to reach your goal

C. Your goal is too difficult and not realistic

D. You don’t take action

E. Your goal is too general or too vague (不明确的)

F. You are not committed to your goal

How often do you set your goal and then fail to achieve it? Do you ever reflect on the reasons why you didn’t achieve your goal? There are a number of mistakes that people make when they set their goals at the start of the year. If one of these mistakes is made, then before even starting you are setting yourself up to fail. There are 5 key goal-setting mistakes that you need to avoid in 2013.

1.__________

If you have done any kind of goal-setting before, you’re bound to come across the SMART technique of goal-setting. SMART stands for Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Time-bound. If your goal is not specific and it is ambiguous in some way, how will you know when you have actually achieved your goal? How do you actually know if you’re heading in the right direction? You should be able to measure your goals and track your progress. If you can’t, then it’s probably not clear.

2.__________

The SMART principle once again comes into play here. All too often people set themselves goals that are far too stretching. When the goal is beyond reachable, negative thoughts enter the mind and disbelief kicks in. This is the opposite of what a good structured goal should do. Ensure your goal is achievable and realistic. Set small targets along the way so you can track your progress. If you feel you are falling behind, reset your goal to something that you can reach.

3. __________

Many people set certain goals in life because they feel they have to. However, on many occasions these are not the goals that the individual is actually passionate about. The goals set are not associated with their values nor are their own goals --- the goals are those that their parents or society wants them to have. If you are not fully committed to your goal upfront, then you’re doomed from the start. You will lack the motivation and desire to actually achieve the goal.

4._________

If your goal is to start an online business, that’s fantastic. However, how are you actually going to achieve it? You need to map your way towards your goal and with as much clarity as you can. Sometimes clarity can be cloudy as you may have a lack of knowledge or skill in what it is that you want to achieve. However, you can start to map the things that you can do to help you learn and grow and progress to where it is that you want to go. Besides, breaking your goals into smaller steps is essential for helping you track your progress and ensure that your goals are realistic and attainable.

5.__________

Without taking action you won’t get anywhere. Taking action is the most important part of any goal. Even if you take action and you find you’re not getting anywhere, you can learn from your experience. Taking action not only progresses you towards your goals, but it helps you learn from your mistakes. They are the keys to reaching your goals in 2013.

     下面文章中有5处(第1 – 5题)需要添加小标题。请从以下选项(A、B、C、 D、E 和 F)中选出符合各段意思的小标题,选项中有一项是多余选项。
A. Lend a hand.
B. Keep your eyes open.
C. Be seen, but not be heard.
D. Make friends with your neighbors.
E. Volunteer in your community.
Keep your home safe and attractive

Tips for Being a Good Neighbor
1. ____________
No one likes a noisy neighbor. Do you hold parties that last all night? Do you leave your dog outside
to bark all day? Remember that not everyone has the same schedule as you do, so use some common
sense. Keep noise to the lowest level. If you're holding a party that's likely to be loud, invite everyone
within earshot(听力范围).
2._____________
It's much easier to solve any problem with neighbors if you have a friendly relationship with those
around you. Furthermore, you may realize that you have things in common and make a lifelong friend.
3._____________
Once you know your neighbors, then you'll also know if something seems out of place in the
neighborhood. Are strange people carrying expensive things out of one neighbor's house? Have several
days passed since your elderly neighbor last collected his newspaper? The benefit of keeping an eye out
for unusual behavior in the neighborhood is that others will do the same for you.
4.____________
It never hurts to follow the Golden Rule: Do to others what you would like them to do to you. Treat
your neighbors with respect. Offer to drive an elderly neighbor to the grocery store. Volunteer to collect
mail while a neighbor is on vacation. The more often you lend a helping hand, the more likely that your
neighbors will do the same for you when you need a little help.
5.____________
Don't just limit your neighborly actions to your block or street. Remember that everyone who lives in
a community has the ability to help make it a better place. Think about your passion and find a way to do
it on a volunteer basis in your town. Volunteer at the local library. Enjoy working with kids. Consider
becoming a scout (童子军) leader. Whatever your passion is, there's sure to be a thing suitable for you
to help in the local community.
