Once a man got on a bus for New York. He hid in∧ toilet, because he did not want to pay. But a passenger saw her. She tapped the person in front of her on the shoulder and say, "There's a bum(流浪汉) in the toilet. Tell the bus driver." The message was past from person to person. But anywhere along the way, it changed. The bus driver was told that there was a bomb in the toilet. He immediate stopped the bus and telephoned the police. When the police came in, they told the passengers to get off the bus or stay far away. Then they closed the highway.  This soon caused a 15-miles-long traffic jam. Under the help of a dog, the police searched for two hours. Of course they found no bomb!

小题1:加the
小题2:her--him
小题3:say--said
小题4:past--passed
小题5:anywhere--somewhere
小题6:immediate—immediately
小题7:去掉in
小题8:or--and
小题9:miles—mile
小题10:under--with

a 15-miles-long作了定语,所以应用单数形式,例如:a sixteen-year-old boy.
小题10:under—with 固定短语的考查。 在某人的帮助下,短语为with the help of="with" one’s help.

Watching a sporting event with family and friends under the sun is a great experience in summer.   小题1:  In the United States, heat exposure led to 8,000 deaths between 1979 and 2003. Luckily, a little prevention can go a long way towards making sure of an enjoyable day.
Know the danger
Heat-related illnesses do not require record-breaking temperatures to occur.   小题2: The body’s temperature can reach 106 or 107 degrees Fahrenheit on a 90-degree day, creating a potentially deadly situation. Factors such as age, weight or a medical condition can influence people.
Drink plenty of water
小题3:  Sweating is your body’s key way to keep cool, so drink water to stay well hydrated(含水的) before you feel thirsty. A cool beer may sound perfect on a hot day, but drink responsibly. Alcohol stops the body’s cooling system and causes you to go to the bathroom frequently.
  小题4:
Wear light-colored and loosely fitting clothing, so air can go around your body and help keep you cool. A hat is a must to help you keep cool, since your head contains many blood vessels(血管), and sun block(防晒乳) is always a good idea.
Take action
What should you do if you are suffering from the heat while watching your favorite event?
Get up and go. It is a simple piece of advice, but could make the difference between a quick recovery and something more severe that requires medical attention. The ideal thing is to move yourself from the position you’re in to an area that is a little cooler. 小题5:
A.Dress for the occasion
B.Weather-related causes
C.In hot weather, it is essential to stay hydrated.
D.You may miss a little of the action, but it beats missing a lot.
E. But when you add sun exposure to the crowds, the results can be deadly.

阅读短文,并按照题目要求用英语回答问题。(满分15分)
Some years ago industries had more freedom than they have now, and they did not need to be as careful as they must today. They did not need to worry a lot about the safety of the new products that they developed. They took little notice of the health and safety of the people who worked for them. Often new products were dangerous for the people who used them and the conditions in the work place had very bad effects on the health of the workers.
Of course, sometimes there were real disasters which attracted the attention of governments and which showed the need for changes Also scientists who were doing research into the health of workers sometimes produced information which governments could not ignore. At such times, there were inquiries into the causes of the disasters or the problems. New safety rules were often introduced as a result of these inquires, however, the  new rules came too late to protect the people who died or who became seriously ill.
Today many governments have special departments which protect customers and workers. In the U.S., for example, there is a department which examines new planes and gives warnings about possible problems. It also makes the rules that aircraft producers must follow. Another department controls the foods and drugs that companies sell. The third department looks at the places where people work, and then reports any companies that are breaking the laws which protect the health and safety of workers. Of course, new government departments and new laws cannot prevent every accident or illness, but they are having some good results. Our work places are safer and cleaner than before. The planes and cars which we use for travel are better. Producers are thinking more about the safety and health of the people who buy and use their products.
