I am Li Ming of Senior Two, Guangming Middle School. I am writing to tell you about some symptoms of anxiety among us students before exams.

Most of us feel nervous whenever we¡¯re taking an important exam. Some will feel dizzy or tired, some will suffer from lack of sleep, and some will lose their appetite. In fact, all these symptoms have terrible effects on our exams and we are all eager to get rid of them.

First of all, in my opinion, it¡¯s important for us to have a right attitude towards exams. They are only a means of checking how we are getting along with our studies, so there is no need to worry too much about the results. Study hard every day and make careful plans for every exam. In this way we can avoid suffering from the pressure of exams.

Besides, enough sleep can make us energetic and enable us to perform well in an exam. Therefore, during the period of exams, we should not stay up too late. We can also try a warm bath or a cup of warm milk before going to bed. They might help us to have a sound sleep.

(We¡¯d better go out for a walk or do some outdoor exercises before and during an exam so that we can keep ourselves relaxed and then concentrate ourselves on exams.)

¡¾ÌâÄ¿¡¿The disabled tend to survive in a world that is largely made for the able-bodied. Evidently, the disabled still want to lead a¡¾1¡¿ which is no more different from that of normal people. Unfortunately, things in the reality are ¡¾2¡¿h on them. What I have come to know so far is ¡¾3¡¿ it¡¯s our common thought to laugh at people looking different from us. But being physically or ¡¾4¡¿ disabled does not determine their character or insights. In fact, they have the same ¡¾5¡¿ (ȨÀû) as everybody else and also want to live with ¡¾6¡¿ (×ðÑÏ). Personally, the disabled are just the same ¡¾7¡¿e for some disability. Therefore, it doesn¡¯t¡¾8¡¿ sense to show prejudice for somebody just because he cannot walk or has one arm alone. Now, think for a while. What if somebody stares at you or points out fingers at you ¡¾9¡¿c your names? Ah! Such an annoying feeling, isn¡¯t it? You never know how others feel until you yourself are¡¾10¡¿p in their shoes.

Over the years I¡¯ve been teaching the ¡¾1¡¿ ( Britain)kids about a simple but powerful concept¡ª the ant philosophy(ÕÜ Ñ§ ) , an ¡¾2¡¿ ( amaze)four-part philosophy.

First, ants never quit. If they¡¯re heading somewhere and you try to stop them, they¡¯ll climb over, they¡¯ll climb under, or they¡¯ll climb around. They never quit ¡¾3¡¿ ( look) for a way to get where they ¡¾4¡¿ ( suppose )to go! Second, ants think about winter and summer. They are always gathering in their winter food in the middle of summer and they are making ¡¾5¡¿ ( prepare)for the long cold winter. So you have to think about storms in summer ; think about rocks ¡¾6¡¿ you enjoy the sand and sun. Third, ants think about summer all winter. During the winter, they remind ¡¾7¡¿ ,¡° This won¡¯ t last long and we¡¯ll soon be out of here. ¡±On the first warm day, the ants are out. If it ¡¾8¡¿ ( turn)cold again, they¡¯ll dive back down. But they come out again if it is warm. Last, how much will an ant gather during the summer to prepare for the winter? All that it ¡¾9¡¿ ( possible) can. ¡¾10¡¿ you can learn from the ant philosophy is: Never give up, look ahead, stay positive and do all you can.

¡¾ÌâÄ¿¡¿Have you ever had problems in your life? Have you ever wondered how to be happy? If so, you will find the book ¡°Being a Happy Teenager¡± ¡¾1¡¿ (use). In his book, Matthews tells us how to have a happy life and answers the questions of teenagers.

About problems with parents and friends, the book says we should stop ¡¾2¡¿ (be) angry and forgive. The book tells us some skills such as how to put everything ¡¾3¡¿ we have learned from life into beautiful pictures.

Many teenagers think that ¡¾4¡¿ (happy) comes from a good exam result or praise from ¡¾5¡¿ people. But you can still be happy ¡¾6¡¿ there are no such ¡°good¡± things.

Success comes from ¡¾7¡¿ good attitude. If you learn from problems, you ¡¾8¡¿ (have) success in the future.

Some school students have problems such as being too tall ¡¾9¡¿ too short. But Matthews tells us that we should think about things ¡¾10¡¿ a positive way. This is Matthews¡¯ most important lesson: you choose to be happy!

By ¡°luxury(ÉݳÞÆ·)¡±, we mean "a pleasant and often expensive thing that is not necessary". From a historical point of view, things which were a luxury when they first came into being all became necessities later.

Anything, no matter¡¾1¡¿luxurious it is, will become a necessity, when it is widely used. This is true of many of the present luxuries, among which mobile phones, cars, computers and many other things¡¾2¡¿(include). It is known to all that the purpose of the development of science is¡¾3¡¿(make) things easy for the mankind, not for only¡¾4¡¿small number of people.¡¾5¡¿, the first thing to do after a new invention occurs is to spread it so as to benefit¡¾6¡¿many people as possible. In the course of the spread, the luxury becomes decreasingly luxurious until¡¾7¡¿the end it becomes a necessity. This is an objective law, and¡¾8¡¿can be an exception.

With the quick¡¾9¡¿(develop) of science and technology, the process for many things to become a necessity from a luxury will be greatly shortened. Anything that can be imagined will be invented and in no time becomes a necessity¡¾10¡¿(access) to ordinary people.

Speaking of campus clubs, people usually think of conventional ones like roller-skating or music clubs. But now, society and club culture is seeing more diversity, with students interests covering a wide field.

Yu joined the club a month ago after he saw a big paper elephant on display at the society and club recruiting fair (ÕÐдó»á). ¡°It was made by the club chairman, who s my age,¡± says Yu. ¡°His work aroused my interest in origami (ÕÛÖ½).¡± According to Yu, the club was formed by a group of students who love the art of origami. ¡°Though I ve never tried origami before, I m impressed by their love of it and I want to learn it myself,¡± he says.

Other than treating societies and clubs as a way of entertainment, some students now use them to broaden their horizons, help their studies, and prepare for a future career. Some societies and clubs like this include extra tuition clubs, straight-A student clubs, and start-up business clubs.

Cui Ye, 19, is the co-founder of the straight-A student club at Beihang University. The economics major student wanted to improve her academic performance, so she set up the study club together with her friends. ¡°The club has attracted dozens of students. We urge each other to study hard and practise self-study activities after class,¡± says Cui. ¡°I think the club has made studying less boring and difficult.¡±
