As is often the case, when people are attending to meetings, having meals or waiting for buses, you can always find them addicting to their phones, completely ignoring others.
This is really a common phenomena in our life. The reason is why smart phones nowadays can be used for people to play mobile games and kept in touch with friends through QQ and WeChat. Therefore, too much exposure to phones are bad for people in terms of health. Moreover, people involved in phones fail to communicate well with these around them.
As far as I am concerned, people should wisely make use of their phones to help their work and study. Meanwhile, care much about their family and friends rather than mobile phones.
【答案】1.attending to meetings中to去掉
2.addicting改成addicted
3.phenomena改成phenomenon
4.why改成that
5.kept改成keep
6.Therefore改成However
7.are改成is
8.these改成those
9.help their之间加with
10.much改成more
第一处:attending to meetings中to去掉;考查动词词性。attend意为“参加”,为及物动词,其后to多余,故attending to meetings中to去掉。
addicted“上瘾的,迷恋的”,be addicted to“对……上瘾”。句意:你总是会发现他们痴迷于手机,完全忽视他人,故addicting改成addicted。
第三处:phenomena改成phenomenon;考查名词复数形式。句意:这在我们的生活中是一个很普遍的现象。phenomena为复数,单数形式为phenomenon。故phenomena改为phenomenon。
第四处:why改成that;考查固定句型。句意:这是因为智能手机可以被用来玩游戏等。固定句型:the reason is that…“原因是……”,故why改为that。
too much exposure to phones为不可数名词短语作主语,谓语动词应用单数,故are改为is。
help with sth.在某事上帮忙,故在help和their work之间加with。
故much改为more。

Taking a math test can be pretty stressful. Even if you know the material, you can still get the problem wrong. Knowing how to go through your math test and check your work can save you from handing in a test full of mistakes that can be avoided. 【1】
Write it out
You can also check a math problem by writing everything out on paper. 【2】 Writing out math problems reduces your chances of missing anything to the lowest possible level, which is a common cause of incorrect answers.
【3】
Make sure your answers work by doing the opposite procedure of what your problem calls for, including the answer you got the first time around. In other words, you would use the opposite of this addition problem—subtraction (减法)—to determine whether or not your answer is the correct one.
Plugging in
You may find that a variable isn’t good enough or have a problem where you have to solve for a variable (变量). 【4】 This is the only real way to assure yourself that the answer you’ve found is correct.
Check for a reasonable answer
【5】 For example, if you get an answer in the millions and you know it should be in the thousands, you’ve likely misplaced a point. Go back through the work on your paper to make sure all of your formulas and calculations are correct. If everything looks okay, do the problem again and compare the result of the second try to what you’ve got on the first try.
A. Do the opposite
B. Correct the answers
C. Plug the variable in the equation (方程) to check it out.
D. Therefore you’ll improve your grades, as well as your math skills.
E. It also helps you to figure out everything after you have already finished the test.
F. If the result of a problem seems to make no sense, it indicates that the answer is incorrect.
G. This helps you to know what information you have and what information you need to solve.

Sports are the base of my life, next to my mother who raised me when my dad left us. I have been into sports since I was six years old. I have known many coaches and heard hundreds of their tips, but they usually focused on drills to develop my skills and reach the next level of play.
When I was in Senior two, I met the new school basketball coach, Brian Pawloski. I thought I was certain to be selected for the school team since I had been in it the year before. I showed up to the tryouts and put out about 90% effort since I thought I’d make it with no problem. That was a big mistake.
Brian Pawloski is the hardest-working coach I have ever met. He didn’t expect 100% effort, he expected 200% effort. One example: he once made us do 40 suicide drills for the 40 lay-ups(投篮) we missed in a game. Some think this is crazy, but it isn’t. After this conditioning practice, as we were getting a cup of cold water to drink, I said, “Coach, that was the best practice I ever had.” I was completely sincere. This man was and is the person who influenced me most at my high school. He expects us to be excellent not just on the court but in the classroom. If I am not working on basketball, I am reading a book that he thinks will help us better understand life’s challenges, including Wooden, Coach, and The Screwtape Letters.
In the first two years I slacked off, not putting forth my full potential. Now, unlike the coaches of my youth, this man was interested in how we did off the court. He always made sure I kept up with my studies and was able to be trusted. I can honestly say that no other coach has given me so much advice on how to succeed in basketball, but more importantly, in life. My school is lucky to have such a great person to teach, coach and influence their students. I will always remember my high-school basketball days as one of the hardest times I have ever worked in my life not only in basketball but in my growth as an individual.
【1】Different from other coaches, Coach Brian _____________.
A. concentrated on skill training
B. trained the team to the edge of death
C. expected the team to do well in their studies
D. asked the team to do more reading than training
【2】The underlined phrase “slacked off” in the last paragraph probably means ______________.
A. paid no attention B. showed no interest
C. had less passion D. made less effort
【3】In the author’s eyes, Coach Brian is ____________.
A. strict and helpful
B. hardworking and honest
C. skilled and cruel
D. professional and serious
