6.Building a foundation for your child of family values may not be as easy as you think.Often we believe that our child will pick up on our values if they live in the same home.While they may pick up many of our values,parents need to remember they are not the only influence in their child's life.These outside values often compete with family values for your child's attention.If we do not make a conscious(有意的) effort to instill our values into our children,they may not get instilled at all.
I wish I had learned that lesson a little earlier.I thought if I lived my values for my children they would pick them up and make their own.Sometimes this happened and sometimes it didn't.I often see twenty-something"kids"who have no faith in many of the values of their family in favor of the values of their friends.Children will often pick up the negative you show quicker than the positive,so the positive things need extra focus to set them.
Some of the influences your children face every day include their church,their school,their friends,any clubs or sporting groups they are part of and more.Kids spend many hours a day at school and with their friends.Sometimes in the business of life,we suppose our children will obtain that foundation we want for them.
Instilling a foundation of family values to sustain(维持) your child requires more than living it in front of them.That is important,but building up your child with this important foundation must become intentional.
That means we plan times to gather as a family.We plan activities together that show the values we want to pass on.We talk about our values; we live our values; we discuss the values of others and how they differ from ours; we constantly look for opportunities and make our own opportunities to share these values in word or deed with our children.
Family values give our children a foundation to build upon.It helps them know they are loved and gives them a sense of belongings.Upon this sure foundation,they can spread their wings and grow to become parents who share these same values with their own children.

72.The underlined word"instill our values into"in the 1st paragraph probably means"B".

A.we live with our children

Children will often pick up the negative you show quicker than the positive,so the positive things need extra focus to set them.可知孩子们接受消极的价值观比接受积极的价值观要更快,故选D.
74、C;细节推理题.根据倒数第三段:Instilling a foundation of family values to sustain(维持) your child requires more than living it in front of them. That is important, but building up your child with this important foundation must become intentional.可知家庭价值观的传递需要家长们有意识地区培养自己的小孩具有这样的意识.故选C.

15.It turns out that nodding off  in class may not be such a bad idea after all,as a new study has shown that going to sleep shortly after learning new material is the best way to remember it.
According to US lead author Jessica Payne,a psychologist at the University of Notre Dame in Indiana,nodding off after learning something new is like‘telling'the sleeping brain what to keep in memory.Along with colleagues,she studied 207students who habitually slept for at least six hours per night.Participants were randomly assigned to study declarative,semantically related or unrelated word pairs at 9a.m.or 9p.m.,and returned for testing 30minutes,12hours and 24hours later.
Declarative memory refers to the ability to consciously remember facts and events,and can be broken down into episodic memory (memory for events) and semantic memory (memory for facts about the world).People routinely use both types of memory every day-recalling where we parked today or learning how a colleague prefers to be addressed.At the 12-hour retest,memory overall was superior following a night of sleep compared to a day of wakefulness.At the 24-hour retest,with all subjects having received both a full night of sleep and a full day of wakefulness,subjects'memories were superior when sleep occurred shortly after learning,rather than following a full day of wakefulness.
"Our study confirms that sleeping directly after learning something new is beneficial for memory.What's novel about this study is that we tried to shine light on sleep's influence on both types of declarative memory by studying semantically unrelated and related word pairs",Payne said."Since we found that sleeping soon after learning benefited both types of memory,this means that it would be a good thing to rehearse any information you need to remember just before going to bed.In some sense,you may be"telling"the sleeping brain what to consolidate (巩固)."

1.You may have experienced the annoyance of being fined because of parking illegally or finding your car towed away(拖走)after leaving it parked somewhere for a couple of minutes.But now a high-tech car sticker that's designed to be stuck to a car's windscreen could help motorists avoid such a situation.
The TowStop sticker sends a text message to a driver when touched by a traffic policeman,to allow motorists to send a reply and give them time to move their cars immediately.Frankfurt-based IT consultant,Daniel Kalliontzis,came up with the idea and is raising money to put his?54(£43)sticker into production.
Car owners can put the sticker inside their car's windscreen,having set it up with key information,such as their phone number.The slim design will include a sensor(传感器)that,when touched by a traffic policeman,will send a text message warning a driver of a possible fine.The driver could then type a reply for the policeman using a smartphone,which will appear on the sticker's screen.
The smart sticker system will rely on the good will of traffic policemen and in a way,a German law.The law states:an officer has to choose the most efficient and inexpensive way for the car owner to remove the vehicle.It could be cheaper for the government to call the driver than to tow his car.
Mail Online asked the Department of Transport whether the sticker could be used in the UK in a similar way.A spokesman said,"In England there is no legal duty to warn the motorist before issuing the ticket.However,a policeman does have the discretion not to issue a ticket if he doesn't think the situation is that bad or he just wants to issue a warning."
So far,Mr.Kalliontzis has raised just over?3,000(£2,362)of his?50,000(£39,381)goal.If he manages to raise the money,the stickers will be shipped in June 2015.But it appears that car owners using the smart system could get some unnecessary warning messages,because anyone could touch the smart sticker.
24.The author wrote the third paragraph toA.
A.explain how a smart car sticker works
B.advise drivers to buy a car sticker
C.show the importance of a sensor
D.tell drivers how to park a car
25.We may infer from the text that in BritainB.
A.car owners don't have to worry about a parking ticket
B.smart car stickers wouldn't work as well as in Germany
C.traffic policemen prefer to call a driver rather than tow his car
D.the Department of Transport thinks highly of smart car stickers
26.The underlined word"discretion"in Paragraph 5can best be replaced by"C".
A.trouble    B.pressure    C.freedom D.opportunity
27.What would be the best title for the text?D

Posting a photo of the food you're about to eat on WeChat has become a daily ritual(惯例;仪式) for many.Often this food in the photo isn't as appealing to those looking at it,but scientists are now claiming taking a photo of your food before you eat it makes it taste better.
Researchers at University of Minnesota's Carlson School of Management claim taking a photo puts you in the moment and in doing so,heightens your (41)I.The person taking the photo will,on some level,feel the motivation to continue the practice.
Researchers wondered about the power of rituals after noticing the funny (42)K that people often perform before eating and drinking.They conducted experiments to investigate whether these kinds of habitual behaviour influences taste.
In the first experiment,some participants were asked to eat a piece of chocolate following a detailed set of (43)A:‘Without unwrapping the chocolate bar,break it in half.Unwrap half of the bar and eat it.Then,unwrap the other half and eat it.'The other participants were (44)E instructed to relax for a short amount of time and then eat the chocolate bar however they wanted.
The results showed that those who had performed the ritual rated the chocolate more (45)C,enjoyed it more,and were willing to pay more for the chocolate than the other group.
A second experiment (46)H these findings,showing that (47)B movements don't produce a more enjoyable eating experience.The data also (48)D that a longer delay between ritual and consumption enhanced these effects,even with a common food like carrots.
While these rituals may seem insignificant,the researchers note that the effects they produce are quite amazing.And while rituals are (49)J before mealtimes,they could play a role in other (50)G,too.
