Ryan Howes, a clinical psychologist from California, says "Forgiveness is a sensitive act that can feel like it opens us up to more pain. But we need to have a way to process and let go of the effects of injury, or we risk serious physical and emotional consequences."
People who forgive tend to have better relationships, feel happier and more optimistic, and overall, enjoy better psychological well-being.  【小题1】  It's a difficult process.
There's no single guidebook for forgiveness, though several experts sell their own methods.
Howes suggests focusing on four elements:
Express the emotion. Let yourself feel hurt and angry. Express it to the person who made you feel that way.  【小题2】  Write a letter; you don't need to send it. Shout your emotions at the top of your lungs while you're in the car, alone, with the windows down.
__【小题3】  We want explanations ?even if we don't agree with them. "Was it a misunderstanding? Were you mad at me? Some sort of cognitive framework (认知框架) is necessary, even if you don't like the reason."
Rebuild safety.【小题4】  That might mean an apology, reassurance from the person in question, distance or stronger boundaries.
Let go. Perhaps it's the hardest part: making a conscious decision not to hold a grudge (怨恨).
If you're in a relationship, this means not bringing up past wrongs. By letting go, you give up
your role as the victim and become equals again.  【小题5】

A.Otherwise, talk to a friend or even an empty chair
B.Control your feelings
C.Understand why
D.Before you forgive, you need to feel reasonably sure that the act won't reoccur
E.Still, no one ever said forgiveness was easy
F.It's a promise to yourself to stop feeling hurt and to fully move on
G.You may feel helpless, or like life is meaningless

【小题1】E
【小题2】A
【小题3】C
【小题4】D
【小题5】F

解析试题分析:本文是一篇说明文。文章说明了原谅的4个因素。
【小题1】E考查上下文的语境理解及逻辑推理。根据后文是It's a difficult process可知,这里的difficult和E中的no easy是同义表达。故选E.
【小题2】A考查上下文的语境理解及逻辑推理。根据前文Express it to the person who made you feel that way可知,这里以a friend or an empty chair作为自己的发泄对象,发泄自己的愤怒。
【小题3】C考查上下文的语境理解及逻辑推理。根据后文中的几个连续的问号可知是理解为什么的问题。故选C。
【小题4】D考查上下文的语境理解及逻辑推理。根据后文中的That might mean an apology, reassurance from the person in question, distance or stronger boundaries.可知D正确。
【小题5】F考查上下文的语境理解及逻辑推理。根据前文By letting go, you give up your role as the victim and become equals again.可知,通过放松,你自己放弃牺牲品的角色,使自己和对方成为平等的地位。故选F。
考点:考查说明文的阅读及逻辑推理。

A. Attention must be paid to environmental factors.
B. Principles of curing cancers.
C. It will take long to find perfect cures.
D. An important discovery in the research.
E. The causative factor of cancer is very clear.
F. The survival rate differs among patients with various cancers.
【小题1】___________
“I have great confidence that by the end of the decade we’ll know in vast detail how cancer cells arise,” says microbiologist Robert Weinberg, an expert on cancer. “But,” he cautions, “some people have the idea that once one understands the causes, the cure will rapidly follow. Consider Pasteur. He discovered the causes of many kinds of infections, but it was fifty or sixty years before cures were available. ”
【小题2】____________
This year, 50 percent of the 910,000 people who suffer from cancer will survive at least five years. In the year 2020, the National Cancer Institute estimates, that figure will be 75 percent. For some skin cancers, the five-year survival rate is as high as 90 percent. But other survival statistics are still discouraging—13 percent for lung cancer, and 2 percent for cancer of the pancreas (胰腺) .
【小题3】___________
With as many as 120 varieties in existence, discovering how cancer works is not easy. The researchers made great progress in the early 1970s, when they discovered that oncogenes, which are cancer-causing genes, are inactive in normal cells. Anything from universe rays to radiation to diet may activate an inactive gene, but how remains unknown. If several oncogenes are driven into action, the cell, unable to turn them off, becomes cancerous.
【小题4】____________
The exact process involved is still mysterious, but the likelihood that many cancers are initiated at the level of genes suggests that we will never prevent all cancers. “Changes are a normal part of the evolutionary process,” says oncologist William Hayward. Environmental factors can never be totally eliminated; as Hayward points out, “We can’t prepare a medicine against universe rays.”
【小题5】____________
The prospects for cure, though still distant, are brighter. “First, we need to understand how the normal cell controls itself. Second, we have to determine whether there are a limited number of genes in cells, which are always responsible for at least part of the trouble. If we can understand how cancer works, we can reduce its action. ”

Read the following text and choose the most suitable heading from A-F for each paragraph. There is one extra heading which you do not need.

A. Talk slowly.
B. Concentrate on the topic.
C. Express your feelings.
D. Notice the details.
E. Use the best words.
F. Introduce something interesting.

【小题1】Generally, good talkers don’t rush into a conversation. They take their time when they think about something and when they say it out loud. They act as if they have all the time in the world. This makes them the center of attention. Try this way of talking and you will create the same effect.
【小题2】People with good conversation skills tend to notice the kind of things that the average person doesn’t notice, and to bring such details into the conversation. They may notice and point out an interesting ring on the other person’s hand, a certain foreign accent, or a certain voice tone they use when saying a name. Thus, such individuals impress people in a very elegant manner.
【小题3】It’s very rare to meet a person who is comfortably talking about their emotions and how certain things make them feel, especially with strangers. Yet this way of talking is a real virtue. Don’t just present the facts. Keep in mind that it is at the emotional level that people connect best.
【小题4】Anyone can talk about the news or express basic opinions. But good talkers can frequently tell you something you didn’t know and that you’ll find interesting and fascinating. This is why it’s good to have knowledge into fields such as psychology or sociology, and bring such knowledge out at the right moments in a conversation.
【小题5】The ability to talk smoothly has a lot to do with choosing the precise words to convey your feelings or thoughts. Constantly develop your vocabulary and practice communicating as accurately as possible. It will help you develop a way with words and allow you to express yourself more easily.

Urbanization
Until relatively recently, the vast majority of human beings lived and died without ever seeing a city. The first city was probably founded no more than 5,500 years ago.     【小题1】. In fact, nearly everyone lived on farms or in tiny rural (乡村的) villages. It was not until the 20th century that Great Britain became the first urban society in history--- a society in which the majority of people live in cities and do not farm for a living.
Britain was only the beginning. 【小题2】 .The process of urbanization--- the migration (迁移) of people from the countryside to the city--- was the result of modernization, which has rapidly transformed how people live and where they live.
In 1990, fewer than 40% of Americans lived in urban areas. Today, over 82% of Americans live in cities. Only about 2% live on farms.       【小题3】   .
Large cities were impossible until agriculture became industrialized. Even in advanced agricultural societies, it took about ninety-five people on farms to feed five people in cities.  _【小题4】. Until modern times, those living in cities were mainly the ruling elite(精英) and the servants, laborers and professionals who served them. Cities survived by taxing farmers and were limited in size by the amount of surplus food that the rural population produced and by the ability to move this surplus from farm to city.
Over the past two centuries, the Industrial Revolution has broken this balance between the city and the country.       【小题5】. Today, instead of needing ninety-five farmers to feed five city people, one American farmer is able to feed more than a hundred non-farmers.

A.That kept cities very small.
B.The rest live in small towns.
C.The effects of urban living on people should be considered.
D.Soon many other industrial nations become urban societies.
E. But even 200 years ago, only a few people could live in cities.
F. Modernization drew people to the cities and made farmers more productive.
G. Modern cities have destroyed social relations and the health of human beings.
