On May 12，2008，one of the biggest earthquakes in the history hit the town of wenchuan in sichuan province ，china。When the earthquake happened ，many houses and tall buildings fell down ，and water and electricity were cut off。The whole town was destroyed and lay in ruins 。The number of people who died in the earthquake reached more than 87，000。Besides，a large number of people were injured and lost their homes 。Soon after teh earthquake，rescue workers arrived in time to dig out the trapped people。

On May 19，2008，the whole nation mourned the dead who lost their lives in the earthquake。
