Hollywood movies are regularly filled with sex and violence. They can be exciting films but sometimes all you want is a little light-hearted entertainment.

Have you heard of Bollywood? All singing, all dancing and unrealistic, it is the perfect alternative to normal Hollywood movies. Bollywood is the Indian film industry, based in Mumbai, formerly known as Bombay.   1.  Yet Bollywood is the largest producer of films in the world. This year the Indian Filmgare Awards, Bollywood's Oscars, turn 50 years old.

The typical Bollywood movie usually has the following ingredients: a cup of romance, a tea-spoon of comedy, a dash of international sight-seeing, served with a huge slice of singing and dancing. There will also be one brave hero, one beautiful heroine and one baddie.  2.

Bollywood films are full of ideal things and free of daily worries. 3.   The actors change clothes and locations within a single song. But the audience don't mind. To Indian movie lovers, especially the poor, such films are a gateway to heaven and the stars are their gods. The films take them to a magical world away from their everyday troubles. The films tell them the impossible is possible and that true love conquers all.

       4.   Behind the beautiful scenes, Bollywood still emphasizes traditional family values. In most films, if two lovers want to break an arranged marriage, they can't just run away. They must win over their parents.

Bollywood is a decent refreshing replacement for those over-stimulating Hollywood films.  5.   They will take you to a brighter, cheerier and more colorful world, where it's still cool to dance around a tree and sing a love song.

A.Bollywood has gradually won its reputation on the world stage.

B.There is never any mention of politics, poverty or war.

C.Most Chinese school kids have probably never seen an Indian film.

D.Bollywood films are mostly comic romances with light-hearted incidental music.

E.  Bollywood pays great attention to traditional values.

F.The result is a fun-filled musical.

G.So if you're tired of all that Hollywood actions, check out the following Bollywood films.

根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项,选项中有两项为多余选项。(每小题2分,满分10分)
76   Spanish people drink coca cola, wear blue jeans, watch Hollywood movies, listen to American music, and eat fast food, and they do all these things daily.
I think that Aerican movies are a good way to spread American culture because people are often influenced by what they see in the movies. Most of the entertainment programs and documentaries we watch on TV are from America, and most of the movies we go to are made in Hollywood.
77  Now, in our cinemas, at least twenty percent of the movies which are shown must be from Spain or from country of the European Community.
American culture is very much a part of Spanish life. It's certain that many things from America are as much a part of their lives as Spanish things. For example, coca cola is as familiar to everybody as any typical Spanish product.   78
However, it’s different with western fast food. For example, I don’t think McDonald’s is as successful in Spain as it is in other countries. In my opinion, one of the reasons may be the life style of the Spanish people     79
On the other hand, it may be that McDonald’s hamburgers will eventually replace the famous Spanish tapas. It’s true that in every city in Spain you can find a McDonald’s, and they are more popular among the Spanish children than among the adults. 80

A.In any case, it’s obvious that American culture is more and more a part of our lives every day.
B.The Spanish people usually go out to eat.
C.I’ve known coca cola my whole life.
D. The spanish people normally eat at home
E.  In the past few years, our country has brought in many American movies.
F.  In the past few years,  the government has tried to protect Spanish movies.
G. The influence of America is increasing in my country.

Lifeguard, sportscaster, movie star, governor, president——there wasn’t much Ronald Reagan didn’t do in life.

“The world was a vast opportunity for him,” Lou Cannon wrote in his biography(传记) of the former US president, who died on June 5,2004, aged 93.

Reagan’s final years saw him fight a losing battle against Alzheimer’s disease(老年痴呆症). But his positive attitude toward life has given hope to many people.

Born in 1911 to a poor family in a small town in Illinois, his father was a failed salesman who drank too much. It was in these difficult times, though, that Reagan developed the powerful optimism(乐观) that would serve him so well. He always believed better times lying ahead, and this was reflected in his high school yearbook entry. “Life is one grand, sweet song, so start the music,” he wrote.

As a teenager, Reagan spent summers working as a lifeguard at a local beach, saving 77 lives in seven years. He graduated from college in 1932 with a degree in economics and sociology. But America was still in the middle of the Great Depression, and jobs were hard to find. Reagan finally found work as a radio sports announcer and this road led him to Hollywood in 1937.

During the 20---year film career, he never became a leading star. As in his lifeguard days, Reagan loved to play the hero and only took the role of a bad guy once in more than 50 films.

A talented speaker who was always able to connect with his audience, Reagan became involved in politics in the 1950s. This popular touch led to him being elected the governor of California in 1967.

All the while Reagan was in California, he had his eye on the White House. In 1980, aged 69, he became the oldest man ever elected president.

He held office from 1981 to 1989, the first president to serve two complete terms after World War Ⅱ. When he left, aged 77, he held the highest popularity rate of any retiring president in US history.

He remained positive even when he discovered he had an illness that would destroy him. “I will leave with the greatest love for this country of ours and eternal(永恒的optimism(乐观) for its future,”he wrote.

科目:高中英语 来源:2014届福建省、德化一中高三摸底联考英语卷(解析版) 题型:阅读理解

“Image is everything.” An entire industry has been built upon the assumption that image is everything, but when it comes down to it, an appealing image is not enough. If there is no substance(事实)behind the image, the product, service or person will fail eventually.

First of all, one should consider how important image is in the selling of products and services. Advertising agencies have raised the art of creating an image to a state of near perfection. Public concept of that product or service is certainly managed by the images created by the advertising agencies. But if the product or service does not live up to the image that was created, the customer will be very dissatisfied and possibly ask for their money back. For example, the Arthur Andersen accounting firm had spent decades building up an image of trustworthiness. But the recent scandal (丑闻) showed that behind that image, it cheated in business practices. Despite the previous positive image, the firm is being accused of criminal actions and it will probably not survive as a business unit. Although the image had been nearly perfect, the reality behind the image has led to the downfall of the world famous accounting firm.

Similarly, personal advisers can build up a public image for politicians and movie stars. Putting out positive news releases, making sure that only the best photographs are published, and ensuring that the person is seen in all the right places can build up a very positive image in the view of the general commons. But once again, history is filled with examples of both politicians and movie stars that fell from grace like the story of the Hollywood actor giving in to the pressures of fame and fortune. With people, just as with products and services, image is certainly important, but without positive substance behind the image, failure is close.

To summarize, it is clear that an appealing image is extremely important to success, whether that image is related to selling a product or service or to the “selling” of a person. But image is only half of the equation. What lies behind that image is every bit as important as the image itself —— the person or product must deliver on that image or there is little chance for long-term success.

1.The downfall of the Arthour Andersen accounting firm is due to ___________.

A. its dishonesty in business      B. its previous images

C. its bad management                  D. its poor service

2.Why did some famous people fall from grace?

A. Their images were not well built up.

B. They failed to live up to their images.

C. They felt much pressure from the public.

D. They paid little attention to fame and fortune.

3.The structure of the passage is ___________.

A: Argument     P: Point     C: Conclusion

4.The author tries to argue that ___________.

A. image creates everything

B. image is the key to success.

C. truth is unlikely ever to be equaled

D. truth and image are equally important

London - Police are monitoring social networking sites popular with teenagers such as Bebo, Facebook and MySpace after claims that they are being used to organize mass brawls (对骂).

Kent Police believe that teenagers have been using the Internet to arrange “fight club” contests watched by up to 100 spectators in a public park.

At least six organized fights have taken place in Brenchley Gardens in Maidstone, Kent, according to one teenage blogger. (4) During one of the fights a 14-year-old boy was arrested for carrying a hunting knife. Kent Police have now ordered specialist officers to monitor sites such as Bebo.

Chief Inspector Ian Hall said: “(5) We are aware of attempts to organize fights using technology such as websites and mobile phones. Pupils from some schools in the  area  may  be  involved  in  this  type of anti-social behavior and we are working with schools to eradicate (根除) the problem.”

According to one blogger the fights usually take place on Saturday nights. The contests are named after the Hollywood film Fight Club starring Edward Norton and Brad Pitt. The central characters fight for the adrenaline rush but the film has an ironic twist (歪曲) apparently lost on some of its audience.

This week police in Macclesfield, Cheshire, arrested six teenagers on suspicion of public order offences after an investigation into a series  of assaults (袭击). The  youths, aged  16  and  17, were released on police bail (保释). The  officers  discovered that attacks had been discussed and possibly even prearranged using the Bebo websites.

In Collumpton, Devon, last  weekend  police  intercepted (阻止) 30  pupils  going  to  a mass brawl carrying metal bars, pieces of wood and chain.

Questions 1—3: Answer the following questions briefly.

1.What is the main idea of the passage?

2.What does the underlined word “monitoring” mean?

3.Please find a sentence in the passage which can replace the following one.

It is likely that the teenagers had used the Bebo websites to discuss and even plan the attack.

Questions 4—5: Translate the underlined sentences in the passage into Chinese.
