    13．One of my students asked an amazing question，and I loved it so much that I want to share it with the entire IWT community．
    She asked my group of top-performing IWT readers-members of Ramit's Brain Trust-
    what we'd learned from our parents and what we're GRATEFUL for．I included my response below．

    A few months ago we talked about beliefs we've had from childhood，many of them not so positive．I wanted to hear some more positive answers，so I presented this question．
    QUESTION：What is a specific lesson you've learned from your parents that you're grateful for？
    I realize that I am so grateful to my mother （far from perfect but REALLY unusual）．She always goes exactly for what she wants to go for （aromatherapy，bowling，photography，getting her PhD，having a farm）．I thought all women were like that but this isn't the case．

    I am grateful that my mom is a giver by nature．Watching her open up our home for many people，host/entertain，do favors without hesitation and give and give and give．It has allowed me to truly believe and see that it is better to give than to receive．

    What a great question．Things I learned that I'm grateful for…
    -Value of working hard．Sitting at the table for hours practicing spelling-bee books and math homework．
    -Always open your house to anyone．Invite everyone over．My mom loves to make food for huge crowds，even if I call her 10minutes ahead of time and tell her I'm bringing 10friends over．
    -Cut costs mercilessly on things we couldn't afford （fancy clothes，cable TV，etc．）  but spend extravagantly on things that mattered （anything education or sports-related）．
    -So many more．Again，what a great question this is!

    Do you often feel lost？Do you think you are living somebody else's life？If yes，discover ways to find yourself by going through the following article．

    If you are thinking，"how to find yourself when you are lost？"，then the first thing to do is to have a rest from everything-work，personal life and all worldly things．Give time to yourself to think why you seem lost．Is it because of over work？Is it because you are not leading a life that you want to？Or is it because you are not satisfied with the people or things around you？Try to find answers to these questions to determine the cause behind your restlessness．

    Once you have discovered what you want to do with your life，make a move for change and self improvement．Even if it means taking up small things such as dancing or painting，go ahead and do it．If you want a career change，plan and take steps so that it can take place smoothly．If you are stuck in a bad relationship and find yourself unable to mend it，break away．At the beginning，you may find yourself slightly unbalanced，but with time everything will be fine．
    It is very important for you to truly find yourself，before it is too late．If you do not find yourself now，you will spend your life with somebody you do not even know．

    18．You may think that sailing is a difficult sport，but it is really not hard to learn it．You do not need to be strong．But you need to be quick．And you need to understand a few basic rules about the wind．
    First，you must ask yourself，"Where is the wind coming from？Is it coming from ahead or behind or from the side？"You must think about this all the time on the boat．The wind direction tells you what to do with the sail．
    Let's start with the wind blowing from the behind．This means the wind and the boat are going in the same direction．Then you must always keep the sail outside the boat．It should be at a 90° angle （角度） to the boat．Then it will catch the wind best．

    Sailing into the wind is not possible．If you try，the sail will flap and the boat will stop．You may want to go in that direction．It is possible，but you can't go in a straight line．You must go first in one direction and then in another．This is called tacking．When you are tacking，you must always keep the sail inside the boat．

    5．When it comes to success in business and success in life，there are few qualities as important as confidence．

    Being thought of as the person to go to，and being seen as an expert in your chosen field，is naturally very important to success on the job．If you can make yourself the person people go to for guidance and advice，you will help to protect yourself from the ever present danger of downsizing（裁员）．After all，if you are a recognized expert at the office，you will be regarded as an indispensable member of the team．
    Having a high level of confidence，after all，does not mean overlooking the places where you could improve．Knowing what you do well and where you need help will help you enjoy increased success and confidence．
