题目列表(包括答案和解析)

阅读下列短文,从每题所给的四个选项(A、B、C、D)中,选出最佳选项。

Besides this question of the time given to pronunciation, there are two other requirements for the teacher:the first, knowledge;the second, technique.

It is important that the teacher should be in possession of the necessary information. This can generally be go form books. It is possible to get from books some idea of the speech;and of what we call general phonetic rules. It is also possible in this way to get a clear mental picture of the relationship between the sounds of different languages, between the speech habits of English people and those,of your students.Unless the teacher has such a picture, any explanations he makes on his students'pronunciation are unlikely to be of much use,and lesson time spent on Pronunciation may well be wasted.

But it does not follow that you can teach pronunciation successfully as soon as you have read the necessary books. It depends, after that, what use you make of your knowledge;and this is a matter of technique.

Now the first and most important part of a language teacher's technique is his own performance, his ability to show off the spoken language,in every detail of sound as well as in fluent speaking,so that the student's ability for imitation is given the fullest space and encouragement. The teacher, then, should be as perfect a model in this field as he can make himself. And to make his own performance better, however satisfactory this may be,the modern teacher has in his hand recordings and a radio,to supply the real voices of native speakers,or,if the teacher happens to be a native speaker himself,or speaks just like one, then to change the method of presenting the language material.

However, the process of showing pronunciation, whether by personal ex-ample or with the help of machines,is only the beginning of teaching pronunciation. The technique of teaching each sound also needs to be considered.

1.How might the teacher find himself wasting lesson time?

A.By spending lesson time on pronunciation.

B.Bu making ill-informed explanations upon pronunciation.

C.By not using books on phonetics in the classroom.

D.By not giving students a clear mental picture of the difference between

阅读下列短文, 从每题所给的选项(ABCD)中,选出最佳选项。

The evidence for harmony may not be obvious in some familiesBut it seems that four out of five young people now get on well with their parents, which is the opposite of the popularly-held image of unhappy teenagers locked in their room after endless family quarrels

An imortant new study into teenage attitudes surprisingly shows that their family life is more harmonious than it has ever been in the past"We were sir[rosed bu just how positive today's young people seem to be about their families, "said one member of the research team"They're exected to be rebellious(叛逆的)and selfish but actually they have other things on their minds; they want a car and material goods, and they worry about whether school is serving them wellThere's more negotiation(商议)and discussion between parents and children, and children expect to take part in the family decision-making processThey don't want to rock the boat"

So it seems that this generation of parents is much more likely than parents of 30 years ago to treat their children as friends.“My parents are happy to discuss things with me and willing to listen to me, says 17-year-old Daniel Lazall, I always tell them when I'm going out clubbingAs long as they know what I'm doing, they’re fine with it.” Susan Crome, who is now 21, agrees.“Looking back on the last 10 years, there was a lot of what you could call negotiationFor example, as long as I'd done all my homework, I could go out on a Saturday nightBut I think my grandparents were a lot stricter with my parents than that.”

Maybe this positive view of family life should not be unexpectedIt is possible that the idea of teenage rebellion is not rooted in real factsA researcher comments, Our surprise that teenagers say they get along well with their parents comes because of a brief period in our social history when teenagers were regarded as different beingsBut that idea of rebelling and breaking away from their parents really only happened during that one time in the 1960s when everyone rebelledThe normal situation throughout history has been a smooth change from helping out with the family business to taking it over.”

Silence is unnatural to map. He begins life with a cry and ends it in stillness. In between be does all he can to make a noise in the world, and be fears silence more than anything else. Even his conversation is an attempt to prevent a fearful silence. If be is introduced to another person, and is number of pauses occur in the conversation, he regards him self as a failure ,a worthless person, and is full of envy of the emptiest headed chatterbox(喋喋不休的人).He knows that ninety nine percent fo human conversation means no more than the buzzing of a fly, but he is anxious to join in the buzz and to prove that he is a man and not a waxwork figure(蜡塑人像).

Those who hate to pick up the weather as a conversational opening seem to me not to know the reason why human beings wish to talk. Very few human beings join in a conversation in the hope of learning anything new. Some of them are content it they are merely allowed to go on making a noise into other people's ears, though they have nothing to tell them except that they have seen two or three new plays or that they had food in a Swiss hotel. At the end of an evening during which they have said nothing meaningful for a long time. they just prove themselves to be successful conversationists.
