I really like Picture 1. We are coming into the Chinese year of Gold Pig. I was not born in a Pig Year, which is a pity. You know why? I love Zhu Bajie, whom of course you know very well. Humerous and human, he is a popular character in one of the Chinese classics. Fat as he is, he is good at kungfu. A little tricky as he is, he has a kind heart. He is not clever but always happy. He is not rich but always has beautiful dreams. Anyway, I think I have a lot in common with him.
Picture 2 is a lucky sign for me! I will certainly take it back home and put it up on the wall above my desk. There is an old Chinese legend. On the Yellow River there is a Dragon Gate under which the river is deep, the water rapid. Every year millions of fish go there and try to jump over it but of course few could make it. If a fish could swim upstream and jump over it, the fish would turn into a dragon flying free in sky and through clouds. So this picture is a symbol of passing important examinations in my culture. I wish myself a successful year!
Picture 3 is my favorite. Let me put it this way. A rooster is thought to be the first to notice the sunrise and the first to report the news to the world, right? So this picture is actually a symbol of the sunrise. An old Chinese saying goes：“Plan your day at dawn and your year at spring.”I think the rooster is calling on people to get ready for their year′s work. This year is important for me because entrance examination is at hand. I will urge myself to work harder. A splendid new year is waiting for me!
