The Dragon Boat Festival

Do you know the Dragon Boat Festival? It’s on May the fifth . It’s a traditional festival in China.And the Dragon Boat festival is in memory of a Chinese poet, Qu Yuan.

People in China usually have a big meal with family on the Dragon Boat Festival. And they usually eat rice dumplings. Rice dumpling is also called Zongzi. It is a kind of rice dumpling wrapped in bamboo or reed leaves. In the past, people threw rice dumplings into the river to feed the fish so that they would not eat Qu Yuan's body.

Dragon boat racing is the most exciting activity during the Dragon Boat Festival. Children all enjoy watching the Dragon boat racing very much. A dragon boat looks like a dragon, and is painted in red, white , yellow or black. A dragon boat is 20 to 40 meters long, and need twenty people to row.

The Dragon Boat Festival is very interesting.
