1．The Scout Movement
Many young British people like to join the Scout Movement．This is a worldwide youth movement which aims to help children and young people to grow up into confident and responsible adults．It started in Britain，but has millions of members around the world．
The Scout Movement started in 1907．The man who started it was called Robert Baden-Powell and he was an army officer．He believed that healthy exercise could help young men and boys grow into useful citizens．
The first Scout groups were for boys between the ages of 11and 17．By 1910groups were also set up for younger boys and for girls．The girls'groups became known as the Guides and Brownie．Each of these groups has its own uniform and rules．Adult volunteers organize and lead the local groups．These volunteers have often been members of the Scout Movement from an early age．
When you join the Scout Movement，you become involved in many outdoor activities，such as walking，camping and sport to help your physical development．You also learn about helping other people，working with others and challenging yourself to do your best．
