It's usual to find sea turtles (龟) wash up on the beaches of Cape Cod,Massachusetts,US. In November 2014,though,things got strange. “It started out as a normal year,”said a man there. “Then it quickly got out of control.”
In a “normal year' about 200 turtles wash up in Cape Cod. But between November and December-2014,the number of sea turtles climbed to nearly 1 ,300. Nobody knew why. But one thing was clear: The turtles would need more help than ever.
Most of the turtles that wash up in Cape Cod are endangered. They are bom on beaches in Mexico and Texas,US. Then young tortles swim into the Gulf (海湾) of Mexico. Some get caught in the Gulf Stream(墨西哥湾流) ,and it pulls them north to Cape Cod. In cold water,a turtle’s heartbeat slows and the turtle is unable to swim. As a result,it washes up on the beach.
Volunteers save the turtles and take them to the New England (水族馆) for medical care. The goal is to get the turtles healthy and then set them free in warmer, southern waters, mostly off the coast of Florida.
In the winter of 2014,the aquarium couldn't help all 733 turtles brought in alive. So about 15 wildlife centers across the country went to take 561 of the turtles. An official said,wTliis couldn’t have been done without everyone's help."

Dear Sam,
Here we are in New York having a nice time. The weather is very nice. We’re staying in quite a nice hotel in a nice part of town,Lower Manhattan. We have nice views (景色) of the Chrysler Building and the Empire State Building from our bedroom window. Yesterday we went on a really nice helicopter (直升机) tour of the city and then in the evening we saw a nice show on Broadway. Today we are going shopping for clothes at Bloomingdale,s. I want to buy some nice designer jeans. They are much cheaper here. Are you having a nice time in the south of France? We hear that the markets there are nice.
See you soon.
Love,
Richard and Sandy
Hi Rob,
Just to let you know that I’m thinking of coming to England this summer. You know I have to use English a lot at work now,and I think I need some lessons. I especially want my pronunciation to be better 一 you’re always telling me it's bad!Anyway,I saw an ad(广告) in a magazine for a school in York. Isn’t that quite near you? Can you send me some more information about language schools in your area? It would be great to see you while I’m here, and I’d also love to meet some of your friends.
Can’t wait to hear from you. Hope to see you soon.
Love,
Concetta
