Evolution (进化) has changed our bodies and faces over thousands of years, and it’s still happening. Here’s how experts predict (预测) what people will be like in 1,000 years.
We’ll be about 1.83~2.13 metres tall because of improved nutrition (营养) and medical science. Our arms and fingers will get longer to reduce the need to reach too far.
We’ll have smaller brains, maybe because computers will help us memorize and think most of the things.
There will be larger eyes and smaller mouths. And there may be fewer teeth as softer food needs less chewing and biting. We could even get our nutrition from liquids or pills in the future.
We can expect other great changes too. Everyone will have the same shape of noses. That’s because climate will have less influence on noses with the help of air conditioning and central heating. Besides, we will have more wrinkles (皱纹) as a result of looking at our electronic devices.
We also may end up with saggy (松弛的) necks because extra sun will cause loose skin. And there will be darker skin as people move around the planet and races (种族) mix.

It' seems to be strange to you there is a blind spot(盲点 )on the eyes. Here is an interesting experiment(实验) that can make something disappear, when one eye is open.
Make a card about the size of a postcard and write two English letters L and R on it, L on the left and R on the right, First, hold the card about 80 cm away and you see both the letters. Then close your right eye and look at the letter R only with your left eye. And now. as you move the card slowly towards you. you'll find the letter L disappearing. But if you move the card nearer to your face, the letter will be seen again, Now do the same experiment with your left eye closed, you'll find the letter R disappearing,

“Fish stories” are stories of the greatest fish that a fisherman has almost caught, but for some reason, the fish always get away. Usually, these stories do not have much truth to them. One of the biggest fish stories in history was about a whale.
In 1891, a ship hunting for whales in the South Atlantic Ocean found a very large whale. While the hunters were trying to kill the whale, it sank two small boats. One man drowned, and another man, James Bartley, was lost in the ocean. However, after the hunters finally killed the whale, they cut open the whale’s stomach and found Mr Bartley inside. He was not dead!
Several weeks later, Mr Bartley seemed to have gotten over his terrible experience. The only thing he could remember was that while he was inside the whale, it was very hot. The liquid (液体) from the whale’s stomach had turned all of his skin snow white. Mr Bartley had to live with the effect from the whale for the rest of his life.
Today, many people have heard about the strange experience of Mr Bartley and do not buy it. Not one real fact has been found to prove that the events ever took place described by the sailors. No scientist or newspaper reporter was ever able to talk to Mr Bartley, and all of the stories told in magazines about Mr Bartley’s experience were explained by other sailors on the boat. Mr Bartley was probably not even a real person at all.
In 1928, after the captain (船长) of the whaling ship had died, one man asked the captain’s wife about Mr Bartley’s story. The wife said that no man who had sailed on her husband’s ship was ever swallowed by a whale.
However, this has not stopped James Bartley’s story from being repeated, and many people today still believe that it is true.

【小题3】The captain’s wife said that       .

B.her husband told her the story
C.the whale was never found
D.Mr Bartley didn’t work for her husband
【小题4】Today, many people have heard about the strange experience of Mr Bartley and do not buy it. Here “buy” means       .
A.明白 B.相信
C.购买 D.证明
【小题5】In paragraph 4 and paragraph 5 we may know that Mr Bartley       .
A.became a writer later
