    Since I entered senior high school, I’ve sensed some changes at home. For one thing, whenever I try to help you with some housework, you’ll ask me to go back to my study, saying that my study is the most important thing for me. For another, you dare not make any noise at home, fearing it would make me unhappy and unable to put my heart into my study.

    I know how you feel, but I don’t expect our family life goes this way. To begin with, I hope to see our family filled with laughter, which can certainly provide a nice environment for me. Besides, doing some housework can help me get away from my study for a short time.

    【题目】You may have heard of the book Moby Dick(《白鲸记》), written by the American author Herman Melville. You may also know that Moby Dick is considered one of the greatest novels ever written. However, it might surprise you to find out Herman Melville was not always a highly regarded author.

    The Civil War is the main subject of Melville’s poetry. He and his brother made a trip to the front line, and he published a book of poems, Battle-Pieces and Aspects of War, based on this experience.

    Melville died in 1891 at the age of 72. At this point, his work had been completely forgotten by the public. His talent was to go unrecognized for the next thirty years. Then, in 1920s, his reputation began to improve as critics and readers rediscovered his work. Today Moby Dick is one of the best-known novels ever penned by an American author.

    The 57-year-old, father-of-three, revealed on the Today Show that his children Jennifer and Rory were not allowed phones until their thirteenth birthday and his youngest daughter Phoebe is still waiting for one.

    Asked if he keeps passwords to his son and daughters’ email and Facebook accounts, Mr Gates said that he doesn’t for Jennifer, 16, who he describes as “independent”.

    He admitted that monitoring online activity is “a very tricky issue for parents now.”

    Despite their vast wealth Mr and Mrs Gates, who live in Lake Medina, just outside Seattle, Washington, have said they want to give their children as normal an upbringing as possible.

    It was previously reported that their youngsters have to complete household chores and are given a modest amount of pocket money.

    And in 2010 Mr Gates said that he intended to give most of his $ 61 billion fortune away rather than hand it down. “That wouldn’t be good either for my kids or society,” he said.

    Also during the “Today” Interview with host Matt Lauer, Mr Gates, who stepped down from Microsoft in 2008 to concentrate on philanthropy (慈善事业) , said that helping others gives him the same excitement as creating software.
